  for myself it has been very frustrating when trying to help other jw's that i know to become free of the wt.society.i use to try to kill the tree,so to speak,by cutting off the many branches(the individual arguments);i since learned that it is much better to kill the tree by cutting at its roots(showing the discrepancies within the source of the arguments,the organization).in speaking with one close friend i was taking him into new and unfamiliar territory, namely ,undermining the organization itself.i did this by asking him questions concerning the wt.organization.as he was thinking that i was asking for his help,he began to realize that there were some things that he could not swallow anymore.then he began asking me, what did i know about the society that he didn't.since then i have been able to help him see clearly another side to the organization and he is slowly fading away.i have found this approach much more effective and less frustrating.

  Hi! Spanner,I always used the articles in the publications.How they contradict each other etc.The Proclaimers Book is an excellent place to start.It describes the history of the Society.This history can be shown to be one-sided and dishonest.I never give him the answer I let him speak for himself.He will give himself the answer.We just need to show and ask them a thought provoking question and don't answer it for them.Blueblades

  1914 and 1935 running out of time?

  the teachings and practices of the society have changed greatly under five respective leaders.russell, (lets not forget barbour,he was the one who published the 1914 date in july 1877,in the book "three worlds,page 83.

  " it has been a central teaching of the wt.society since then.

  )rutherford,knorr,fred w.franz and now henschel.most wt.publications over 10 yrs.old are outdated and are no longer used.the beliefs that "prove"they are the only true religion are different from their beliefs of fifty yrs.ago.however,the truth will not and cannot change.do you think we can expect the dates 1914 and 1935 to change because of running out of time?i realize that in spite of the changes,they expect members to be in complete agreement with their teachings and to be in complete obedience to the organization.blueblades.

  Hi! NATHAN NATAS, First off I would like to say that "RE:1914 and 1935 running out of time".Are not my own thoughts.Other posts have expressed this thinking before.In his book COC.chapter 10 Ray Franz writes concerning 1914 and "This Generation".For more than three decades the year 1914 was pointed" Foward" to as the "Terminal Point" for the WT's.time prophecies.Now for some eight decades,that same date has been pointed "Backwards"to as the "Starting Point"for the time prophecy that constitutes the major stimulus to "urgency"in the activity of JW'S.Take away 1914 and its claimed significance, and the basis for their authority largely evaporates.The evidence shows that the Governing Body has felt a considerable degree of discomfort as regards this major "'TIME PROPHECY".The "TIME-FRAME" allotted for its fulfillment has proved embarrassingly short and narrow as to covering the things foretold.The passing of each year has only served to accentuate the discomfort felt"This ends the part from his book .Now, when the society deleted all reference to 1914 in its 1995 NOV.8TH.AWAKE issue that presented graphic evidence of a crucial change in connection with time running out for the society concerning the fulfillment of this doctrine.As for 1935,in short the yearbooks continue to show an increase in the number of anointed members,(they call them replacement numbers)Also articles that talk about Chieftains and Glorious ones attributing to them same kind of position as the anointed is watering down the teaching that 1935 saw the door being shut for a heavenly calling.This what I mean when I think that 1914 and 1935 doctrines are running out of time.Nathan,thats all I was implying about time running out for the Governing Body.I agree that 1914 is at odds with recorded history. What I am addressing are their claims to the two dates in question.Blueblades

  When to put up Christmas decorations?

  the kids are very keen on having a christmas tree and some decorations.. is there any date these are supposed to go up or are we going to look really silly having it up mid november ?

  are there now more ex-jws than current jws?.

  rumour has it that this years world wide report will show a slight increase in the countries where there has been, over the past few years, either a zero or a negative rate of increase.

  my guess would be usa, australia and uk will show a 1% increase.. this can be almost entirely attributed to the new 15 minutes a month rule and the fact that the group study overseer (new pretentious title - no longer a humble book study conductor) is responsible for rounding up all the reports for his group.. however, the big problem will be the numbers getting baptized.

  Lets make it simple.For those that like to, they can do a statistical review.Lets start at the year 1975,add all the baptized ones for the last 27 yrs.Take this total and subtract the number reported in the 2003 WT.Now lets look at the total numbers not for just one year,but, the last 27yrs.BTW.This has all ben done before and the figures show decreases( yet increases for the anointed??)Past posts have all the figures in detail.I started at 1975 because that was the year that the last call went out asking "Who will survive the ninthteen seventies?"   being a jehovah witness, did you feel obliged to have a 4 door car?

  once i bought a 2 door car, and everyone was looking at me as if i commited a crime.

  i then reasoned with them saying, "didn't jesus send his deciples by groups of 2?".

  Hi! JH, We had a brother use a motorcycle,parked it in the K.H.;lot.So,at least two publishers could go in the field service at one time.Him and the coolest sister.When the elders frowned on this ,he showed them a WT. article about the brothers using the motorcycle in the field around the world including Circuit Overseers.Maybe if it was equipped with a sidecar one of the elders could of went along.Well it wasn't long after that ,the elders told him it didn't look good and set a bad example in spite of the article showed to them.So, he no longer parked it in the KH.lot.Just outside,soonafter that he left the congregation.Blueblades

  32yrs, still biding my time
