First Post - Emotionally Torn

i haven't been on here long but i found this site a couple days ago and quickly realised it had a lot of posts by people going through similar experiences as me.

i read some of the answers and it helped relieve some inner anguish i've been carrying since everything i came clean to my parents about everything i've been reading about.. .

i just have been going through a rough patch right now; that might be an under or overstatement depending on your own personal experiences with this kind of stuff.

I can not improve on the help available here But just a couple of things.

If you are the youngest then your 'velcro' parents will cling like the said to hold you. I was the last of a big family and i was born to be the perfect child and cosseted and smothered along the way and we didnt know the 'truth' at that stage of life so your M & D just dont want to let go.

There were some Awakes that stated it is not a bad things to scrutinize your beliefs but i cant recall which awakes said that. Others here can no doubt.

Well you are out for a bumpy ride and this site is your seat belt.

ps. Guilt is what we allow others to do to us. The WTS thrives on guilt trips.

so i am sitting here at the meeting during the "book study".... the study is all about gods protective power!.

oh, yes, protective power....for righteous servants of his.....but what about all those who are trying to be good witnesses, serving the gb, who are not protected from harm?

It is a bad bad thing they do talking about "protective power" like it is some sort of force field. It is very similar to one nation of African soldiers who are taught that by eating certain herbs makes them bullet proof.

What the hell are they trying to put over? What of those killed on the way to a convention? did the PP get flicked off that day.?

I say again what a sideshow religion its appearance and evolution would be a funny footnote on religious history if it hadnt ruined the lives of so many.

the collapse of large parts of the ice sheet in west antarctica appears to have begun and is almost certainly unstoppable, with global warming accelerating the pace of the disintegration, two groups of scientists reported monday.. the finding, which had been feared by some scientists for decades, means that a rise in global sea level of at least 10 feet may now be inevitable.

the rise may continue to be relatively slow for at least the next century or so, the scientists said, but sometime after that it will probably speed up so sharply as to become a crisis.. this is really happening, said thomas p. wagner, who runs nasas programs on polar ice and helped oversee some of the research.

I have read a small book by Vaclav Claus a professor of Physics and (I think) the former president of the Czech republic, He stated that venus and Mars are also heating up.
His conclusion is the sun is in one of its cycles but also warns we have nothing to be smug about.

I saw a brief report that the US Navy on Antarctic patrol was checking on a large ice sheet to find it was ..gone. Instead there was a new bay miles accross with land as its shore!

For me? plant trees!

i have fed a number of birds regularly thru winter, and among the species were some doves.

this spring, two of them took a liking for each other and teamed up.

for a couple of weeks, extensive construction work was jointly done and resulted in a nice little nest, undoubtedly a cosy home for the small family which expected to multiply.

Missing my Mom

she and my dad brought us to the u.s. from ireland in hopes of giving the 4 of us kids a better life with more opportunities.. mom went to school in her village where her mother (my grandmother) was the teacher and the bible was part of the curriculum.

they even used the name jehovah.

her father was a plymouth brethern (think amish or quaker) who was shunned for the rest of his life for marrying my grandmother who wasn't "in the lord"...she belonged to church of ireland.. when the witnesses came to the door after we arrived in the u.s, mom was a shoe-in candidate for their recruitment.

i am feeling so emotional right now.

crazy doctrines aside, these child abuse cover-ups are horrendous.

add them together and i feel like there is a churning black hole sucking the souls out of these children.. now, i realize there are boys who were abused as well, but i get this overwhelming feeling that girls/women are simply not valued and/or taken seriously or accused of being liars or demonic or, even worse, viewed as a harlot, whore, or temptress in the majority of situations, no matter the age or the brutality of the rape.

I heard from SL just today that the wts has required that "leaders" get the Working With Children check (this is done via the Police in each state here) even if it took them "three years" to move on this. I have to assume the checking was a real one not some home baked wt version.

Q. Leaders? All jw are considered 'ministers' or do we suddenly have clergy/laity happening?

he says he has heard sasquatch, but hasn't seen one.

says there is a law in oregon against shooting sasquatch, $500 fine and a year in jail.

I saw a flight of UFO at 1100. 8 of them clear as, cone shaped point to the top flying steady in "V" formation into the wind.

I just hope who/whatever is out there has done a better job of their planet than humans have of this one.
