The School brochure is no longer available in print
Really?
Maybe it embarrasses the FDS.
I remember how that damn brochure covered everything, A to Z ,and being forced to give a copy to my teacher every new school year. I still have the cover image emblazoned in my brain! I hated that thing!
Kudos to my 3rd grade teacher for challenging my mother on it! She was the only one that got my mom to think just a little at least for that year. I was in school plays, went on trips and made some friends, I even spent New Years Day with one of the girls from my class. It was great.
funny how the mind works. I didn't even remember all of this had happened in my past. Oh well.

Do your own thing, anything you want. Or do what most of us do - get sloppy drunk, watch bad football, eat way too much and pass out in the living room.
Well I dont for one!!!!I thank God for ALL I have .
DF I respect your comments as the days go by..Why not be a WITNESS for Jehovah NOT a Jehovahs Witness?

Guys, sheesh, I was being facetious about the drunkenness and gluttony. I just think it's silly to worry for days about what to do on the fourth Thursday of November. If the Bible is your authority, you know, God never meant for the Hebrews to have a king; the people themselves wanted one. Before the kings people 'did what was right in their own eyes.' I recommend that advice to you, dfed.

O.K. the way I understand Thanksgiving is: The Pilgrims sailed away and came to a new land so they could have freedom of worship. The Indians gave them a big welcome and in return the Pilgrims invited them to a big turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Before eating they asked Jehovah to bless the food and they all got along very well after that. (The Pilgrims worshipped Jehovah-that's why they had to leave England! That's the story I told my kids!) We have always had a big dinner with friends and family and watched the Carolina Panthers win for years!
When I was a JW kid in school, I made hand turkeys every year and ate the lunch room turkey dinner! My mom usually would not cook a big dinner on Thursday (she was a dyed-in-the-wool witness) so we had a BIG TURKEY DINNER ON FRIDAY!!! It was good and I was always thankful. The end.

Thanksgiving now that is something we don't have here in Australia. I understand the basic concept of it however. Is there any religous aspect to the celebration?
We have Australia day here on January 26th but the JWs don't get involved because of the patriotic/nationalistic thingy about it. I am guessing that you have Thanksgiving as your founding type of day?
On topic - Defd I wish you well in your investigation into the matter. When you speak to Bethel please ask them for the scriptual backing behind their response as I am interested in knowing.
