Elise:: If he is believes in his right to watch porn then he should stand up for his convictions and tell the other Jehovah's Witnesses that he can't live under their rules. It's up to the organisation then whether it makes changes to accommodate the needs of it's members (who, from what I've read in these threads number more than one) or not. Otherwise you are just the same old hypocritical Jehovah's Witnesses that you yourselves moan about.

I can see now that you are, perhaps, well-intentioned, but extremely naive when it comes either to taking a stand in regard to your convictions within the JW Organization when they differ from those of the Organization or to just walking away.

If only it were as simple as it seems to you, but there is so much more to it that that for many. Stick around and read a few personal experience threads on the matter. It will likely increase your understanding, compassion, and tolerance for those stuck between a rock and a hard place. Or not.

I had a rabbit that once in a while would start to act crazy so I would take her out of her cage and throw her in with the buck rabbit. After they were done she was the best rabbit calm and nice to have around.

I don't care. As I've said, I believe the organisation has only as much power as it's members give it. I also believe in being personally responsible for our actions and for having personal integrity. It bugs me when I hear people condoning acts that are against their religion, yet they continue to stay in that religion.

Reading porn is against the fundamental teachings of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Anything else is just people making excuses. If you want to surround yourself with pornography, then don't call yourself a Jehovah's Witness. Mary it is that simple.

All I can say is these guys have had a different experience than myself.

It appears that loss of family and friends is too much for some. They continue to go thru the motions.

Not my cup of tea but hey not my call.

Elise, you're using a plethora of false dilemmas. I'd explain them to you, but I doubt you would listen. Besides, your posts give me a headache. They take me back to second grade and being forced to follow along with the "slow" kids as they read.

Elise truely I am glad you are here on the forum. I like to here from people that make me think and I agree with you that if all the people would stand up things would change faster. But if they get DF'd for standing up they can not change anything. Think about it, it took about two years for the brothers and sister to talk to me with no fear that I would tell them apostate things. This is the place I do that. The young ones in the congreagtion come to me all the time and cry on my shoulders why because they trust me not to tell on them. I listen and do not judge them. If I told them what I know and got myself DF'd who would be there for them? HOw could I help others if they could not talk to me? So your answer does not sound true to my ears. I can help becasue I use to be a brother that went the meeting and was well loved. Everyone think I quit becasue of the UN deal. I still can help and the other ELders that I told you about can too.

I actually turned in my stripes as a result of someone we used to call on in the ministry, was witness to my bringing back a tape of questionable content. I brought the tape back, and you know how some people browse thru the fresh returns to see if they might want to watch what you brought back? Well there you have it.

That moment in time was the begining of my backing out of the Hall, no longer participating in field service, and quickly melting back into the poisons of my past. I saw this woman in the supermarket one day and proceeded to try and appologise to her. To try and let her know that all of Jehovah's Witnesses are not like me. I don't think she bought it. She really didn't like us, especially me when we would come knock on her door to try and offer her the latest publications. She really had a reason to hate us now.

No matter what may've taken place in the hall, I think I could have handled that, but to stumble one of those little ones, as is described by Christ Jesus, to have this millstone tied around my neck and for it to have been better for me to be dropped in the ocean with it, well I felt as good as a dead man, just let me dig my own grave, jump in and just pull the trigger.
