No. It's a myth. Go to Egypt; the Great Pyramid was there hundreds of years before the Flood, it didn't notice, or the civilisation that built it.

Reject literalism. People seek to cling to the literal creation and flood stories as if they insist they are true, they can insist the other stories are literally true too. It gives them security. Doesn't mean it is true though.

    fish,

    welcome to the board.

If you look at cultures across the planet, you will find stories and myths relating to floods. Some speculate that this is proof that a global catastrophe occurred. However, there is a simpler explanation.

In order for people to survive they require water. Civilization grew out from water. Rivers and seas. Rivers are a requirement for life, however, they're capricious. Especially from the point of view of tribes who believe rain comes from the Gods, and not from the hydrologic cycle. Floods were and still are a force to literally wipe out villages and towns. Therefore, is it any surprise that folk lore and legend are full of Gods wrath demonstrated in floods.

Did Jehovah destroy millions with a flood in Noah's day? To keep it simple: Yes, all flesh was destroyed (for many reasons). Mankind, simply because they failed to get their act together, because of sin, and because none wished to repent and change their ways, etc... Another big reason for this destruction was to kill the Nephilim which were the offspring of Angels breeding with human women. Jehovah forbids many of the angels that took human form from leaving this state and these specific angels also died in the so-called flood.

Actually, the geological records we have today prove that there was no worldwide flood 5,000 years ago. The Flood's legend is told in most ancient civilizations, which makes archaeologists, scientists and geologists concede that a local flood could have occured around the Meditteranean, and you and I both know that any natural catastrophe back then would have been interpreted as Divine Retribution from an Angry God. Who knows? Maybe the people living around that area were real shitheads that deserved to be wiped out. So along come a big flood, kills them off and the survivors are all happy again thinking that God killed all the bad people.

Surprisingly, I even know of some Witnesses to (secretly) think that it was a local flood, and not an earthwide flood......but of course, they can't say that too loud, lest they get hauled into the back room for 'a little chat'....

Well someone sure as hell hasn't been keeping up with God's Organization..tsk, tsk, tsk..........because they don't teach any such thing:

    *** w64 1/15 p. 55 Why God’s Field Will Be Productive ***

Their mothers, the wives of the materialized angelic sons of God from heaven, were flesh and also perished in the Flood; but their fathers escaped the Flood by dematerializing their human bodies and returning to the invisible spirit realm.
