yeah, longbows are totally instinctive. No sights means you have to feel where your arrow is going. I think that is synonymous with some other things I do....
But back to the real topic at hand-
I know what I'm doing, and I have known. I'm not sitting here upset, I'm just sorry that my mother couldn't of cam out of this without being hurt.
When you're a parent you gotta to expect some pain along with the joy of having kids. You just hope the pain will be less than the joy. Some parents truely believe that their children will live the life that they choose for them. Most of the time it doesn't happen. Parents are raising adults and along with that comes the freedom of being an adult and choosing for yourself. I hope that your mom will come to terms with your choice Richie and respect it. I still pray for that and I'm 40 and my mother is 62.

Richie, I feel for what you are going through. Nobody likes to make decisions that they feel will hurt their loved ones. But as a parent I understand that at some point I have to let my children make their own decisions. And as a parent, I know that I will love them no matter what, even if I don't fully agree with them. That is what parents do, they love their children. They don't withdraw that love because their kids don't do exactly what they want them to. You seem like a very intelligent, well grounded young man. Whether your mom realizes it or not, it seems she has done a good job raising you. You have the courage to stand in the face of opposition and not back down. You are standing up for yourself and what you know is true. Good for you. I hope my children grow up to show such strength of conviction. Good luck and happy birthday a little early.

Just saw this post now as I couldn't get on the side yesterday afternoon. I admire you Richie -- when I was 18 I wish I had one quarter of the balls you have. I admire your strength and courage as well.
