Question about the Anointed

    Welcome Zico,

Aside from personal ambitions (which have a good chance to be frustrated inasmuch as so-called "anointed" hold absolutely no power among JWs, unless they are co-opted into the Governing Body -- perhaps your PO is "reaching out" for that, but it's a long and hazardous way, and in the meantime he is more likely to be looked down upon as a wacko at best and as a potential apostate at worst -- wasn't that a long parenthesis?), it is only natural, imo, that many sincere JWs who read the NT (in which there is only one hope) come to take it for themselves and not for some "other class". When this happens (and it happened to me) there are several possible reactions:

    (1) denial: no, that can't be for me (I don't want to make a fool of myself, be suspected of ambition or pride, etc.); you'll never know how many went through such a personal crisis and chose to forget about it;

    (2) uncritical acceptance: yes, I will act on my conviction, no matter what people will think, trusting in God. Those imo make up the majority of the regular Memorial partakers, who sincerely believe this is something which happened to them yet never come to question the organisation teaching.

    (3) critical acceptance: yes, this is for me, but is it not for all? Is the doctrine of "two hopes" scriptural after all? Those will go directly from "anointed" to "apostate".

    Welcome to the board Zico.

I'd be interested to know that particular PO's personal circumstances and social interactions. I believe there are many psychological parameters affecting people who suddenly profess to be annointed and hope of going to heaven.
For instance is he married? has family? been through trauma or personal crisis? etc

    VG,

Good question about what will happen to those not anointed. Gods plan is to save all mankind. Right now, he is only dealing with the anointed Christians who hope to be heavenly heirs with Christ in his kingdom. There is only the heavenly hope held out right now, in this current time period. Paul said our ministry was one of reconciliation. What does this mean? Those who are the church of Christ, which is literally millions of true believers not just 144,000 are in the new convenant and are reconciled to Christ now. This is why we partake because we are in the convenant. Our sins are blotted out and not held against us. Because we are believers now at this time. We believe although imperfect, living in Satans world and are surrounded by unbelievers. That is why our hope is greater also. To be belivers now, we can receive the heavenly hope, joint heirs in Christ. The Bible is written for those ones, who accept and are baptized into Christ. We know we were accepted by God by the given of Holy Spirit which helps us put on the new personality and cultivate the fruit of the spirit. We could not change into new creations without it. Now what about everyone else.

Well, only once the Kingdom is ruling, and satan is bound, and false religious institutions are removed, then all others not of the Christian believers will be given the opportunity to learn righteousness and bring themselves in line for the hope of living in peace on the earth. But this is not UNTIL Christ is reigning. Think about it; think how hard it is for many today to come to a full knowledge of God and follow Christ while dealing with so many things. Imperfections, emotional problems, false teachings, satan ruler of the earth. What kind of loving God would Jehovah be to say oh well, follow me anyway or I will destroy you? NO WAY! It is not in his nature. He said the ransom was for all and it is. Here are some scriptures.

Romans 5:11 - christians rejoice now because we are reconciled to God at this time

Romans 11:15 - The Jews were put into a spiritual darkness only for a time, this was to bring in the gentiles under the new convenant and eventually save all mankind. (this is the sacred secret)

2 Corinthians 5:11-18 - We Christians have a ministry not of doom and destruction but reconcilliation of the world. Christ has already reconcilled believers in him

2Corinthians 4:19 - God is reconcilling man to himself - although they do not know it yet.

Right now Christians only are on the narrow path which is heavenly. The narrow path or gate refers to Christ. So this scripture means the it is only for the heavenly. Compare this to the future when the Knowlege of God is given to everyone. Isaiah profhesied that therr will have a highway of holiness. This is a figurative illustration. Think how much easier it is to walk a highway then a narrow road? God is loving and plans to save all of mankind. That is the promise.

Here is one more text. 1 Corinthians 20-22. As in Adam all die, so in christ ALL shall be made alive, each in his due time. First Christs, then the firstfruits, then all those in him. We believers now are the firstfruits, the others will be in him when he comes to rule and they obey.

So you see rather than 99.9% being destroyed - 99.9% will live.

And that really is the Gospel or Good News about the kingdom! Hope this helps. Please email me if you want to know more or need more scriptual references. You can pm and then I will give my email box.

He only became an anointed one a few years ago when an older anointed one in a nearby Congregation became unfaithful.

Zico, the WT teaches that if an annoited JW were to become unfaithful in some way and even be disfellowshiped, they may not lose their heavenly calling, because if repentant, they can be forgiven and reinstated into the JW congregation and still be anointed. That information can be found in the 1976 Watchtower, page 158.

In what way was this older anointed person in a nearby congregation "unfaithful"?

Were you that unfaithful anointed person?

That's the question I always had and never got answered, why were some JWs chosen to be anointed out of the 6 million, what did they do to deserve to be first class JWs?

They just say it's between them and jehovah but there needs to be more than that and as for the GB members though also "anointed" I don't see them to be spiritual at all in their behaviour and policies.

We had two "annointed" in our congo. One a phony bologna, who couldn't get his wife to the meetings if his life depended on it, because she didn't believe the Watchtower bunk, yet he was still "appointed" an "elder" by his son in law. The other was a deranged menopausal.

One year the PO gave the memorial talk which he directed at her and all but said from the podium, "Lady you better not partake, we don't believe you're annointed. She partook anyway. She's not even in anymore.

    Hi! Welcome to the forum!

I am not a JW, nor have I ever been. I am a devout Bible-believing Christian. I read my Bible often and love every word. I believe it is the TRUTH. It needs nothing added or taken away. I don't believe Jehovah would have written a book about Himself, making it too confusing for most people to understand, so that another group would have to come along and make changes or better explain what He means. I believe He has made that clear in Rev. 22:19. He doesn't need anyone's help in communicating His word. He did it right the first time. And it remains perfect today.

But I do have some questions about this 144,000 subject. I have searched the Bible and cannot find one single Scripture that clearly states that heaven is limited to 144,000. I also cannot find one single Scripture that clearly states that paradise is on earth, or that "paradise earth" (that I have heard my JW friends speak so much about) even exists. My JW friends pointed me to Rev. 7 and 14, but I still cannot see where they are finding that this proves that heaven is LIMITED to 144,000. 1John 5:1 says that "WHOEVER believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God". Doesn't "whoever" include EVERYONE? John 10:16 clearly says that ALL believers will be together in "one flock" with "one shepherd", doesn't it? And where does Rev. 19:1 SPECIFICALLY say that the "great crowd" is? (Rev. 19:1--"..a great crowd in________".) So, when the Bible says where the great crowd is, specifically, shouldn't we believe that?

    Dear Zico,

WELCOME!! We are glad you feel comfortable enough to post your question here. My husband and I both were lurkers here too, while we were yet still attending meetings regularly. We were both very active. Yet disturbing questions deserve answers. Even though you may not agree with everyones viewpoints here, it may give you some "food for thought". One thing that you must do when reading ANY scripture is read the CONTEXT. Context is EVERYTHING. Start by reading the surrounding scriptures in Revelation. You will see that the entire book is symbolic. One thing I never understood, is how you could take a literal number out of an entire book that was symbolic. Revelation 7: 3-8 speaks of these sealed up from all different tribes, yet the Society even says that these tribes are figurative. What makes that one number, 144,000 literal?? Take, even the scripture where it identifies the Great Crowd. They are washing their robes in the blood of the lamb. Again that is NOT literal. You see my point?? Now this is something that will throw you for a loop...check out Revelation 7:9-17 it tells us the great crowd is WHERE?? BEFORE the throne of God. Now think about it.. where is the throne of God?? Is it not in the heavens??

I have another thought for you. Lets just say the 144,000 number IS literal. Think about ALL the Christians who from Jesus day until now that have died for one reason or another. Now think of all the Christians in Bible times that are in the Catacombs. Millions of them. Now think about all those who were burnt alive at the stake, or who were torn apart by wild animals, in the Roman Collisiums. Think about how rapid Christianity spread throughout the land in Jesus day. Acts 2:41 says that in one day 3,000 souls were added. Now, with all of that in mind, does it seem reasonable that 144,000 Christians would have already died and been collected?? Even prior to 1919??

These are just a few questions you may wish to think about. The Society gets around all these Christians by claiming they were only "professed" Christians. To me that is absurd! And so VERY disrespectful!! I recently watched a program on the History Channel about the Roman Collusium entertainment. They used take a huge iron chair, and get it cooking hot (like a BBQ) from hot hot coals under neath, then they used to sit Christians in the seat. And make them stay there until they were dead. They would slowly cook alive!! The spoke of a woman who would not deny her faith in Christ Jesus, and it took her all day sitting in that chair until she finally died! Can you imagine?? Now, think of how sick it is to say that someone like that was only a "professed " Christian!! Those were real people who loved God and Christ Jesus enough that they were willing to undergo such torture!!

    I hope this helps.

    Sincerely,

    Lady Liberty
