Yikes, I've done this diet also... same amount of weight (about 25 pounds) in three months. Not pretty.

Forget exercise videos....Buy a DVD set, such as for a series you like or would want to watch....ER, CSI, Little House on the Prairie, whatever floats your boat, and then use that (something more entertaining) to exercise to. Especially if you're following a routine you're used to and don't need to be guided. I simply have a treadmill and watch shows taped off TV, and get a 45-minute workout each day or every other day while being entertained at the same time.

Brooke has some very good advice. The hardest thing is always to find something that you will stick to. For me, I alternate being eating very light calorie-wise and eating "normal" (what I consider normal) every other day. The overall effect is that I eat less calories overall, but I don't feel I'm really depriving myself because I can eat what I want tomorrow. The trouble with this is to stick to the rhythm and not skip days....

Wow! Lots of info on this thread! Thanks!!!!

I'm still only on the 1st page so I'll respond here to Crumpet:

I will however convey the best weight loss secret of all - and that is splitting up with your partner - I lost 3 stone after I broke up with my last boyfriend and if I keep getting fatter then I may have to apply the same to Mr C! (Only Kidding).

LOL, actually, when I last had a break up I ended up a size 8 ! I looked great! Oh well, I suppose extreme emotional pain and suffering isn't the answer to losing weight. (damn!)

I'm making notes on ALL of your suggestions!

Some great info here. Not too sure about the parasite thing....is that stuff legal? I've heard people joke that they'd love to have a tape worm in their gut to help them lose weight LOL

The book link also looks great. Isn't it wierd that those who've been successful all talk about how easy it is?

I'm going to put into practice some things as of now: 1. Drink more water (I don't have anywhere near enough) 2. Try to stop eating when satisfied, rather than eating all the food on my plate because I like the taste 3. cutting out all refined sugars and white breads etc. 4. going on the excersize bike in front of the TV (or rather, forcing myself to do it!) 4. reducing carb intake moderately

Thats a start. I can work in some of the other suggestions where I can.

I'm a little afraid of trying something new because of the fear of failure....but if I don't try I won't know!

Hey Sirona, you forgot the most important bit of mine - it's very simple... make some changes to your diet that you can keep forever... and not forget about even when you reach your target.

That's right most dieters that manage to reach their targets subsequently lose control and regain the lost weight. The weight loss phase is in fact a short phase keeping off the weight is the longer more important phase.

And what I did on the diet was look at every aspect with the Tesco motto "every little helps

Some really good suggestions, but I like this one best. You know if you just cut out 100 calories a day, that's roughly a pound a month. This time next year, you'll be almost a stone lighter.

thats just ONE biscuit. Less than one glass of wine. Hardly a huge change, and something you can do without it being painful,

It sounds great to change your eating and exercise habits completely, but realistically you know you're not going to stick to it!

Little is good. Save that 100 calories! It'll avoid the Yo-yo diet effect and give you slow consistent loss.

Poppy xxx (but I share your pain!!)
