Windowless Buildings

The organization tries to have as much control as possible. They will disfellowship jws for questioning their teachings or authority. That's a whole other subject that could fill many threads. (and has)

What I meant was that if jws are staring out of the windows during a meeting, they are not paying attention. The view out of the windows can be distracting. They want you paying full attention to what is being said from the platform.

I had to draw up the plans for the KH which is (I think still there) in Yukon, OK because we did not want to pay for an architect. The other elders made suggestions as we went along - and one recurrent theme was to deliberately NOT make it look anything like a church. The window issue came up and the general thoughts were that it should not have them because the bretheren could not be trusted to pay attention to the platform if they could look out the window...

We had another truly hilarious incident with another KH in SW Okla City - one of the brothers had a brand new router and so he routed YHWH from a stencil into the woodwork around the stage. This was so much fun to do that he went completely nuts with it, making other hebrew letters and covered almost every bit of trimwork in the whole hall with totally meaningless hebrew symbols...I can still remember how pissed off Marion Dunlap was when he saw this little bit of handiwork. But, we could hardly retrim the place -

    I kid you not.

I provide a retort above to your comments contained herein. Covering of windows in churches and offices is mostly an energy conservation measure. The thing I find most intriguing is the perception of control by the "organization" that is expressed in many comments. Vandalism, I can understand the logic, but how many Catholic churches have had statues destroyed or Jewish cemetaries been defiled and vandalized and insurance was not considered as an issue to prohibit the outside world from access?

Very cool - I can just see Captain Nemo blasting out the B Minor Mass on that pipe organ...

We were told at our cong (which had windows but set up high in the walls--no view) that windows with a view would be distracting and encourage not paying attention to the speakers. And they were right too--watching paint dry on a neighboring house would have been exhilirating compared to the droning monotony of JW meetings.

Now that's what I'm talking about, I want to see ALL that He has created as afforded to me from my vantage point. When it's time to get down to the heart of matters with my Almighty it won't matter if I paid attention to the podium. As I see it, only in twelve step recovery can an inanimate object become a higher power.

See, I look for some knowledge and all Sir82 can offer is sarcasm. He's angry! Dude, he's not angry. You really should try and develop a sense of humor and relax a bit.

Sounds like some very intense messaging.

I am both relaxed and have a sense of humor. As I said, I seek knowledge and get sarcasm, is this what is taught in the meeting at the KH, respond to an honest query with sarcasm? BTW, how are you finding it in Haiti, the competition with pestilence, plague and voodoo I mean?

    Just kidding, get the point?
