The pic Honesty posted looks like my familys house when i was growing up, most people would not believe the amount of filth me and my siblings were raised in.

It was a horrible existance, I'm sure it must be some kind of emotional disorder that makes people live like that, but I cannot understand why my parents lived that way.

Nowadays, as an adult, i like a spotless house, but my house always falls short of my standards, I'm finally at an age that it doesn't bother me so much.

She is out partying with my maid Crazy....

Sounds like alot here like it clean and tidy, eh?

I would not say I am a freak about a spotless house, I like a lived in home...

Lets just say, you would get a clean set of dishes if you ate at my place!!! along with a cold beer and a iced mug if you wanted it that way...

On a scale of 1-10 I'm a # 6 pack rat. We work and are busy running all the time so just seem to come home long enough to make a mess. On the weekends my husband and I do a 1-2-3 GO. We spend one hour cleaning as much as we can as fast as we can.

When company is coming the place gets a really good going over. I just really don't have that much company. We like a clean organized house but just won't spend alot of time making it that way. I do keep the germs to a minimum tho.

Morty, I have relatives on my mom's side, who are so filthy, my one aunt was almost DF'd for her unclean house. My parents would not even let us in her house when we were young, she had dishes from a month past, piled up all over, their dogs had crapped all over, and no-one bothered to pick it up. The cats peed and did their business everywhere too, and my aunt's older kids came back home to live with their newborn babies....go figure!!! I think that's why my mom was so OPPOSITE....she was a clean freak extraordinaire.

I wish I was a neat freak, I'm trying. My fiance is very paranoid about germs. It used to drive me CRAZY. That is until he got sick a couple months ago. He has a suppressed immune system. Now it still drives me a little crazy but I hold my tongue and try hard to keep thing cleaner. I've always kept the Kitchen, bathroom and living room clean. Now I go through the house on a daily basis with disinfectant. But we do have some clutter in the office and in part of the living room. We moved in back in May and are still doing some home repairs. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I don't like clutter at all...but books every where is not clutter.

I like everything clean...but no one else here seems to want to help.

my bf wants everything "tickityboo"... like "mother"... but can't find the laundry hamper etc. to save his life.

other peoples choas overwhelms me I think...my stuff just seems to stay neat...except for the books!!!

I was a chamber maid before so sending a maid in just seems wrong.imo.

plus there is that dusty "spice rack of love"...which is a story I wont get into...lol

Were there two witnesses to that event?...

That must have been shit*y to live growing up that way for your cousins...also for you not being able to visit...

I have a mother like yours....You can eat off the floors at my mom's house...Ya know, so clean you don't feel comfortable seating in the living room as she is coming along fluffing your pillows, and wiping where you set your coffee down...You cannot put your feet up on her coffee table cause it is glass...

My house is very clean. I cannot stand it if its not. I enjoy cleaning though. Working on my house is kind of a hobby. I will have to say my closet will not stay clean however. Its a walk-in and my 3 year old has a hayday in it. My husband is definitely not a neat freak by any means, but I don't mind picking up the slack for him since he works two jobs and I stay home, his only job is to keep his own bathroom clean. I grew up in a really clean house, so thats probably where I get it from.

I do my best to keep our home clean and tidy but as soon as my bf comes returns homes it goes to pieces, he's like a tornado as he goes through each room!

As soon as he gets into the living area he dumps two lap tops, bags of shopping, shoes, coat and any other paraphanalia, then upstairs its into the bathroom and towels everywhere and the work clothes could be anywhere between the bathroom and bedroom. Then back downstairs to create more mayhem with his piles of post and keys and coins not to mention his work papers and news papers, dvds and more piles of magazines.

I seem to spend so much time tidying up after him but I wouldn't have him any other way - he's a messy bugger but he makes up for it in other ways!

What's with making the bed? I always pull the duvet right back during the day to give it a good airing - surely if you make the bed after getting up you give the bugs a chance to get all snuggly in the warmth?
