I almost left once because I thought someone was out of line. That would have been a big mistake on my part. Stay and ingnore the ignorant. We want your input and your support. Think about it all for a sec, like I did, and you won't be sorry. You are welcome here. It's a place to vent and be heard.

I have to say ammend that to read, "Stay and don't be ignorant." As many have said this is a place to learn. Broaden the mind and perhaps realize that as LT said, it you dish it out, be prepared to take it.

I've read the two posts. Wozadummy, you failed to indicate any tongue-in-cheek in your comments. It's tough to convey expression over the 'net. I often recompose a sentence several times, to make sure my meaning is not lost. EVEN IF YOU HAD NOT MEANT to be harsh, your words were. Funky's response was in kind.

I when and read the post you are so hurt about and all I can say is "Whatever"! You can go if you want but why make such a big deal out of it just to get sympathy. Get over yourself.

Listen, wozadummy, I'm not one to comment on these swansong (boohoo-I-got-my-feelings-hurt-so-I'm-leaving) threads. However, it seems to me that if you were joking it certainly was not apparent from your initial post. In fact, you did your fair share of labelling and posting what borders on hate speech toward gays. Were you expecting that to go unchallenged? Were you expecting that nobody would attempt to enlighten you or call you out for your ignorant comments? I'm sorry to hear of the terrible things that happened in your childhood, but as you pointed out, it isn't appropriate to paint other people with the same brush (label) just because their sexual orientation is the same as those who abused you.

If you want to leave, nobody is going to stop you. If you want to stay, nobody is going to hold a sincere misunderstanding against you. If you need to take some time away and come back in a while, that's cool too. If you enjoy JWD, you should stick around. Believe it or not, growing up a JW and being gay is a HUGE issue for these folks, in terms of how it impacted their self-image and self-worth - this should be a healing place for them just as much as it can be one for you too. If you aren't interested in issues about sexual orientation or sexual behaviour, the solution is simple: don't open those threads.

Remember the old saying," You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time."

Perhaps a sabatical would help. Take a few days of, relax, reflect and repost.

Wozadummy, you're still thinking like a Dub---ya we all do that from time to time. You and FD had words. Don't worry about it cause I'm sure he's not. Funky Derek makes fun of me cause I believe in ghosts. I make fun of him cause he don't believe in ghosts .....we all have our opinions.....I think the problem that many of us have, is that as Witnesses, we were all trained not to "argue" with those that don't agree with us, instead we should get miffed and walk away. Real life doesn't work like that. We have to learn to respect other people's beliefs and views even if it contradicts with our own. This isn't easy for us, given our 'training' from the religion, and it's a work in progress. I include myself in that.

I would encourage you to stick around as this is a great site. And as TL mentioned above, if you can't hack it here, you wouldn't last 5 seconds on the other ex-Witness sites.
