Hasn't the Watchtower changed their position before regarding whether the anointed will be going thru the Great Tribulation???
Just What Is The WT Up To Now?

Surely though they still want to have annointed ones on earth to keep up their claim about that class giving everyone else their spiritual food.
I suppose a cull would look good as then the numbers would decrease and they could say that that is eveidence that the end is near.
Oh, I'm getting a bit confused over all this, they change things so quietly but so often and it's only us on the outside that can see that it is not 'new light', it's old bullshit in another guise! -

Perhaps the WTS is dealing with the problem as suggested in this thread. Personally, I think they will have to push people awefully hard to get them to drop their own "anointed" status. Just as faithful JW's don't want to admit their religion might be wrong, these folks don't want to fall from grace.
The entire doctrine was created by a man who didn't worry about what it might mean over 70 years later. It served his purposes for the time. It seems that this entire Borganization was run that way until the GB took over from the presidents. Even then, it took years to start planning for the future. Now, with such pitiful growth and projections, they gotta start doing something.
I said on another thread that the thing that gets me is: If they are planning for the future, then they KNOW that their doctrines are a load of crap.

Guess it's time to reinstitute the "witch test" -- if a newly annointed one drowns (after having been tied to a 1000 lb. rock) they truly weren't annointed (no Kingdom Hall funeral), and if they float, then they're burned for heresy. I would expect nothing less from the WTS and their Inquisition.

FYI,
The elders told my anointed friend that he MUST be speaking with people about his status because several other people in the congregation are claiming they are now anointed. And they are assuming my friend had something to do with it. They told him that he is making heaven sound too good and now some don't want to stay on the earth anymore. They then told him to STOP this or he will be disfellowshipped for causing divisions??? My friend told them he HAD NOT spoken to anyone. But he said the elders were very insistant that he had. They would not tell him who said he spoke to them. They are simply trying to kick him out.
Since Rutherfords time they have been throwing the real Christians out of the org. But perhaps now that they are getting frustrated by not being able to control people anymore or explain their numbers - they are pushing harder. They could very well be thinking in their stupid little heads that some of the professed anointed are lying, realizing their numbers would of had to declined significantly by now. Lilly

Anyway, amongst my great sins was that it was told to the congregations, who KNEW full well they were talking about me, that I was..............you got it.........STARTING MY OWN RELIGION. I just had the best laugh when you posted your last post. I think I am among the same rank of Apostate as Mouthy, but am not sure.
LOL - When I sent my 'reply' letter to the arrogant elder who headed the Judicial Committee, I put that letter on Letterhead that made it look like I had done the same - though I have no idea what they thought of it.
I headed the letter;
The Cree Lake North Assembly of Non-Jehovah's Witnesses and Amen Brotherhood
The heading was posed over a rainbow and clouds that made it look like official letterhead of a church. I still laugh about it. I don't know if they took it as a joke or not. I hope not. Since it is funnier to believe they took it seriously.

After about three weeks with Nemesio, John Cooke returned to Barcelona, where the work was progressing nicely, with some forty Kingdom publishers taking part. During the Memorial celebration held in Spain at that time ninety-six were present and eighteen partook of the emblems. The number of partakers was inflated by the influence of the Protestant "brother" in Madrid. But that situation was only to continue until 1950, when judicial action finally was taken against him. With better understanding, the number of partakers dwindled to three by 1956.
This is the same situation - as reported in the 1978 Yearbook page 165
The assumption is always that one of the 'rank and file' is responsible for messing up their interpretations of things - never that the interpretation may be wrong.

They were successful before with the same tactic Lil. Note this report from the Proclaimers Book page 717.
In five years, I am sure with enormous pressure applied under Rutherfords direction - they reduced the partakers by around 50%
Then, the worry was that the number might exceed 144,000 [now that would be hard to explain away wouldn't it?] Today the problem lies with the number not decreasing to 'fulfill' a key element of their prophecy of the 'sealing', of course designed to make the end appear imminent. I believe they fully expected that no 'new annointed' would show up to mess up the prophecy, and if none had it would have worked out. They could explain a 'limited number' with the explanation of 'replacement' of unfaithful ones. But the continued failure to fall in the past 25 yrs in starting to hurt them. The best laid

This chart - and my subsequent 3 or 4 months of calculations regarding where that 'original' 1940 number would logically go using mortality charts and actuarial tables was my first step toward the 'light' of understanding this organization was wrong. They are terrified that yet others will make the same assumptions. Only now the assumptions would really terrify the GB if the numbers grow.
They proved capable of 'pressuring the number down' in '35-'40, can they do it again?

Jeff,
Do you still have your church? If not you can join mine. We will change the name to be more man friendly. ha, ha.
You are so right about what happened during Rutherford's riegn (of terror). I was just telling my friend that on the phone a few moments ago. Seems like the current WT learned well from him and are resorting to the same tactics again. Only this time, they have an audience thanks to the wonderful internet! Lilly

in a new york bethel minute
the reason why most JW's became JW's is because of the insight the GB had on scripture and prophecy... now all the GB says is, "we do not know." "we can't say for sure." "that must be left to Jehovah." "this is a conscience matter." what kind of insight is that???
