Im a better cook than my ex wife ,i iron better than her too never needed her for that just wanted unconditional love and a friend the only things that spoiled it was jws and her 20 yold son who she still tucks in bed at night and washes his hair and who on holiday never left our side for two weeks .oh and because of the org our sex life became none existant .
You made me think of this song. I like the Fog Hat version best:
I Just Want to Make Love to You
I don't want you, cook my bread,
I don't want you, make my bed,
I don't want your money too,
I just wanna make love to you.
I don't want you, be no slave,
I don't want you, work all day,
I don't want you to be sad and blue,
I just wanna make love to you.
I can tell by the way that you baby talk,
I can see by the way that you switch and walk,
I can tell by the way that you treat your man,
But I could love you baby, it's a cryin' shame.
I don't want you, wash my clothes,
I don't want you, keep a home,
I don't want you to be true,
I just wanna make love to you.
I don't want you, be no slave,
I don't want you, work all day,
I don't want you to be true,
I just wanna make love to you.
I don't want you, keep a home,
I don't want you, wash my clothes,
I don't want you to be true,
I just wanna make love... -

Day Star and others who are offended, don't take this poem overly seriously. It made me laugh. I mean genuinely laugh. I need to laugh. My life is ultra stressful. But since you're taking this so seriously and it bothers you so much, I'll make some serious comments for you.
On domestic violence: I don't condone it. I think the poem's composer said it tongue in cheek. It's really more that if this man's mamma is so great, why did she slap the crap out of him? Maybe she wasn't so wonderful. He should give his darling a break. Cut her some slack, you know?
For me, I've been married twice and now live with Andy. I haven't been compared to anyone's mother. I can cook and well, the women in my family are just naturally good with men. We have a gift when it comes to the kind of charm men enjoy the most. And we come by it honestly on both sides of the gene pool. I haven't been compared to anyone's mom. Naw, no man EVER wanted me to be more like his mamma.
For the record, you won't find a lady on this thread who says it's cool to compare her man to anyone, much less her father.
I have to reassure you fellas who are deeply offended, it's only a small percentage of men who whine about how much better their mammas are.

FHN, You shouldn't have to explain yourself.
Mother of God and Sonny Jesus, it's a joke, people. Get a sense of humor, would ya?

Yeah, I know, Robin, but these are tender little fellers and well, they need a little tenderness. Bless their little ole hearts.

Yes, the poem is very humorous. I appreciate it when men are mature enough not to take themselves too seriously.

Yeah, I know. Sniff, sniff.
I'm glad somebody understands sensitive fellers, FHN. You have no idea how much I am biting my tongue right now. Heh, there's no need to start a flame war. Not yet, anyway.
I swear, some peoples' asses are so tight you wouldn't be able to swipe a credit card down their ass crack. Honestly, you could surgically insert a piece a coal up their anus and within a couple of days you'd have the Hope diamond.

I get offended by intent.
I've fought for Womens, men's, children, gay rights etc. on several levels. However, I'm not the most PC guy in the world either, and in the right crowd, i can be pretty filthy and offensive if you don't know me, etc.
FHN also sticks up for the underdog more than just about anyone on this board and has done so consitently. In that context, sorry the joke was funny.

Thank you, Avi. You know you're one of my favorites on JWD and have been since I got here. I think all the girls here love Avi.
This poem gives you something to ponder, who is the underdog in this poem? Is it the guy who nagged his honey repeatedly and made her feel under appreciated and inadequate, or is it the lady who finally had enough of being compared unfavorably with her honey's abusive mamma and decided that she couldn't beat her, so she'd just join her? Maybe it's neither.
Misogyny: who is guilty of it? The man in the poem or the woman? I'm happy to say that most men I have known were not like the occasional one who is fool hardy enough to think comparing his lady to his mother will get him the results he wants. But relax fellas, it's just humor. It's not as if the poem says something like: "I saw his car, his paycheck and his tattered clothes. I asked him what college he graduated from and he said, 'College? I didn't even graduate from highschool.' Then I told him he was a loser bum and to get outa my face. My daddy drives a Rolls, he's a millionaire, wears the best. He's a Harvard man. I'm single 'cuz I can't find anyone that compares to Daddy. Then I turned around and slapped the crap out of him." <.......that would be shallow. I'm not sure even that example qualifies as misogany though.

I never read any of those books, but I used to see the author on TV. I am not sure I agree with him on all issues. I think he underestimates the motivations of men. In other words, I think he paints you fellows more shallow than a lot of you are.
