To those that believe they should go because it's a command-----Jesus was talking to the partakers----not just observers. So if you go because you believe you're supposed to, realize that you must partake, too. (Plus, no one can judge you now).

This is my first ever memorial in 38 years (I'm 38!) that I'm not going to. Although I had stopped attending 6 months before last year, I still went mostly to please the family, this year I think my 'apostate' views have got around because nobody even mentioned it. I logged on here to find the date.. lol.

I keep examining my feelings to see if there is anything momentous.. but absolutely nothing, except a huge sense of relief I dont have to sit through that hypocritical crap anymore.

For those that still have faith and feel they must attend, I'm astounded you choose the JW memorial as it has nothing to do with Jesus, I'd rather be a Catholic nowadays!

This is the second one I'm not attending. Doesn't really mean anything to me anymore.

Good point Minimus, it reminds me of Jesus words about the scribes and Pharisees in Matt 23:13 “Woe to YOU , scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for YOU yourselves do not go in, neither do YOU permit those on their way in to go in. When Jesus said that we must partake if we want life, or to be a part of him or in union of him abr

    Nothing whatsoever.

Tonight will make it 9 memorials I've not gone to, I can't say I've missed them.

This is the third I have missed. Since I don't believe in the god/man anymore I see no point.

    It means:

    - Something I used to attend, because I thought the God of Israel would be VERY displeased if I didn't.

    - The biggest day of the year for Jehovah's Witnesses. It's a big non-event to pump up their membership figures and to try to convince current JW's of the "potential" for growth there still is.

    - It is a further disproof of the 'little flock' teaching, because the number of partakers at each year's Memorial should decrease (according to Watchtower teaching). However, it has been holding steady for the past decade or two. So when they spend the first half of the Memorial talk telling how special the 'little flock' is (so that nobody drinks the wine), they're talking mumbo-jumbo.

    - A chance for the 'in crowd' of the congregation to go out together afterwards, once the Memorial is FINALLY done.
