Hi CoCo, it's a new day, hope things are well with you. Emo - have you been carried away with the rain water? Fingers are crossed for you bringen.

Beautiful sunrise this morning again, shades of gold, yellow and pink. Quiet and peaceful at the river. I could smell the horses at a farm up and across the river this morning, brought back memories of my childhood on the farm. The Blue Heron was there at the river again, watching me. I was amazed he didn't fly away, they really are solitary creatures. The fish were really jumping in the river today, there was a small school of about a dozen or so really enjoying whatever insects they were catching at the water's surface. Then it was run back home and get ready for a workshop/seminar I had to attend this morning. Ater that I took a drive out to the country and bought some fresh picked strawberries, yummmy. I'll but some in the freezer for the winter, and make some jam with the rest.

It's a hot hot day here today again, 40C with the humidex.

Have a good one everybody, stay safe, dry, warm, and always happy!

    Hi all

emo reporting - safe and dry! My house is at the top of a hill so I'm relatively safe - I say 'relatively' because a few years ago we had an absolute cloudburst - 8 inches of rain in under an hour - needless to say, we were flooded along with everyone else! Some places in the lower areas near the river got flooded though, they still won't be in the clear even without any rain today, it depends how much rainwater there is still to run down off the moors - our moorland soil is actually peat so heavy rain doesn't soak into it - and if it ever catches fire, it can take weeks to put out.

It's been sunny here today too - but not as warm as where you are BB - only making about 14C max. More rain forecast tomorrow :-(

And we call this month 'flaming June'!!

    Howdy Friends!

It was good to hear from you and about what you are doing. School is always in session for the wee fishies, I would imagine, BB. And Horace the Heron has returned. He must be comfortable with your presence by now! Enjoy those strawberries. Your forays into nature are so real on the page that I can see you and the pooch as you forge ahead into the new day's dawning. So very beautiful! Thank you......................

I read a story about a farm in Oregon, USA, Sad emo, where the peat caught fire and trenches had to be dug deep to stop its onward progression. Wet sacks and whatever methods of soaking available were employed to dampen the smoldering fire. It took a long time as I recall before it was extinguished. Afterwards, the land produced giant vegetables that had no taste.
In hand I have "The Saturday Evening POST," Combined Issues, Dec. 24 - Dec. 31, 1960: "The gentle followers of St. Francis of Assisi possess an inner peace that many twentieth-century men seek, but rarely find. A revealing portrait of THE FRANCISCANS." It is a wonderful article with beautiful photos and illustrations on these friars [not monks, as I learned], who have a glow and joy that is palpable. I recall its being said, according to St. Francis, that true joy in life derives from humility and service to one's fellow man. Amen!
I wish I could somehow get this information to you, SE. Any thoughts?

"L'Arlesienne Suite # 2 [The Girl from Arles]," by Georges Bizet, has just concluded. It was a flop at its opening and lasted but a few days for its engagement. I love it. I believe Vincent was from Arles. Speaking of art [were we?], I am very excited about my new art commission. It is very large-scale and will require gallons and gallons of color. Am working on the story board currently. Please excuse me for now!

Love and peace to all of you!

    Good day all

More heavy rain this morning but it brightened up again in the afternoon. We currently have cloudless blue sky and sunshine. There is more very heavy rain forecast for Saturday and Sunday...

CoCo, I know a priest who is a Franciscan, and yes he does have a real air of peace and gentleness, even though he's had a few bad experiences in life. The article sounds interesting - maybe it's archived online? We'll have to check between us and see what we come up with. During my RC days, I was going to join the Carmelite third order (means you take the vows but don't join a convent/monastery) They are a contemplative order, among their most famous saints were John of the Cross and Theresa of Avila. Maybe I could found my own order wich would be a cross between Franciscan and Carmelite - contemplative simplicity ahhhh....

    Could call it the Emoites

    Dear Friends,

I wish you all a wonderful day, including all the gentle Emoites in their cloisters! Thanx, SE.

Correction: Peat fire was in Washington state, not Oregon.

Late to a job cleaning rain gutters - please, send us some rain; EXTREME fire danger. Amber fire at Lake Tahoe, California, at over 3,000 acres now. Saw "The Illusionist" last night. Ed Norton and Paul Giamatti were incredible. Loved Jessica Biel, too.

After viewing "The Illusionist," I understand the term "smoke and mirrors," so frequently used on the forum.

I had no idea it was a trick of the trade in my former religion.

    Good evening(?) all

Busy day today catching up on admin at work and trying to get paperwork together for the accountants to inspect. Then I came home and began clearing away the clutter - amazing I can see most of my living room floor now! It feels grat too. Once I've cleared the absolute rubbish, I'll start on the unnecessary - things I don't need which can go to the charity shop.

I'm trying hard to send some rain back to North America but it doesn't seem to be working - it just won't budge.

This film 'The Illusionist' sounds intriguing and thought-provoking to you CoCo - a penny for your thoughts?

I'm retiring for the night now, I think I could use an early night

    A cheery day to all!

Glad you found your floor, Sad. And getting some necessary tasks attended to. "La Cathedrale Engloutie" - "The Sunken Cathedral" - performs now. Claude Achille Debussy.

"The Illusionist" has to be one of the best thriller/dramas I've seen in a long time. I cannot say too much, so as to not give away the salient connecting points of the story. Simply put, things are not what they seem. Even with regard to the immediate tragedy that unfolds and befalls the principals. To what do all the clues lead? Neil Burger's [director] audio commentary helps the viewer to understand what is happening scene-to-scene, particularly as the story is told from the police inspector's point of view and understanding. Burger explains that some info is conjecture, some is info gleaned from various sources - second or third hand. Some is directly acquired through observation and, yet, things are not what they seem. He stated, in so many words, that we invent stories because history, like an illusion, is inadequate to fulfill our dreams.

A must see, Nemo the Emoite! Sorry you are so far from the cinema! But it's OK; you can read the short story of the same name by Steven Milhauser. Ironic, Phillip Glass' music is just finishing on NPR - his haunting music permeates the movie.

Beverly Sills - the opera star - is gravely ill with lung cancer. Love you, Ms. Sills!

Good morning all. I hope things are well.

So much for my 'early' night last night - the result was that I was wide awake at 3am and then it took me ages to drift off again because the rain was so heavy! It's been mostly dry so far today but I can see the black clouds rolling in again, the beginning of the next massive rainfall which is forecast to be here all weekend. I feel sad for the poor people who have lost their property and treasured possessions.

I'll try and watch out for the book CoCo. They say often the book is better than the film - maybe it will be so for this one too.

I'm watching the last of the sunshine and blue sky disappear now... here we go again...

Have a good, peace-filled day everyone.

Busy days lately! Still enjoying my daily trips to the river. Saw a painted turtle sunning himself on a rock yesterday. The other day I thought I might not see the Heron, but lo and behold I look down the river and there he is, flying silently along the waters surface. He's so close to the waters surface that ocassionally a wing tip dips into the water. He glids seemingly effortless and silent over the water. The milkweed are in full bloom, their heady scent on the breeze. The Monarch Butterflies are flitting about gathering their sweet nectar. I was rewarded this morning with a view of three deer foraging in the field. Beautiful creatures.

Last night I was a *gasp* chaperone for my neice's grade 8 Graduation party. That's a new one for me - being a chaperone!! lol I guess that means I've matured now!! lol Oh well, there is still a kid in me, I filled up a big bowl of water balloons and got the boys real good!! They had been getting everybody with water guns, so I thought it was time to turn the tables. They were so stunned that they really didn't know what to do so they were easy targets!!

Tonite we are going to a fireworks competition - it's Italy's night to impress. Always a good time there, and especially since my brother and family will be joining us.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

    BB
