Would Any of You be Interested in going Door to Door?

My all time favorite door-to-door idea was done by someone who used to post here...I think he wasn't allowed back so I won't mention his name.

As our last prank on the JW's...we bought copies of both magazines from some JW's that had come to ****'s apartment door. Then we went door to door as Jehovah's Witnesses. I had a gigantic beard at the time, totally hillbilly looking.

My opening line was "Hello. My friend and I are Jehovah's Witnesses, and we'd like to tell you the Good News that Jehovah God will soon murder everyone and destroy everything, except for Jehovah's Witnesses. Would you like to purchase some magazines that explain this?"

Everyone of course said no. One gal slammed the door, so I started banging on the door and yelling 'JEHOVAH WILL GET YOU! JEHOVAH IS GOING TO DESTROY YOU!" The we took off down the street and into ****'s car, figuring the gal probably called the police.

    Classic!

That's a good idea, but bilboards are expensive, talking to people is free. I dont think peope would think of us as weird, in fact most people would be moved by talking to us.

Honesty has a good idea too, in fact he and I both have spoken to churches about the JW's

beyond having the cojones to pose as a goofy door-knocking JW and really pull it off, I wouldn't reccommend going out door to door either, just as mkr says.

With a possible exception...that you pass out informational brochures on say, five basic propaganda techniques...making sure to mention how they are used increasingly in every segment of our society: marketers, politicians, and recruiting organizations such as high control religious groups. And of course making sure the techniques listed include the top techniques used by JWs. BUT DON'T give the impression you're targeting ANY SPECIFIC GROUP!

    A and W,

I understand, as do many, MANY here, your "wanting to even the score" in some way. I have spent a LOT of time going over this topic. Here, for what they are worth, are my "after four and a half year exited opinion:"

Following the Witnessess to do what? Talk to people who don't give a hoot aobut the Witnessess and thier message? The vast, vast majority of people are not at home, could care less, or are angered by these chuckleheads being on thier doorstep. It might frustrate the Witnessess...but, due to the cult induced idea of "persecution" and "the evil slave," probably not.

Maybe, a better idea (and, this is what I am planning on doing) is this: the ones to help are in what I call the WT Twighlight Zone: those that are thinking of comming in and are still investigating and those that are in and want out...but do not know how to go about it.

They are at the Kingdom Halls. They can not be approached, they can be notified. How? Banners.

Contact Silent Lambs. They can arrange for a banner for you to post. Spend a hundred bucks, note the web site address, real simple, real plain, (contact the site, first, for permission) and pick a web site you like. Start a route...say five halls in your area. Each Sunday, simply put up the banner, kick back in a lawn chair, read a book, drink a glass of ice tea, and relax. Network and have someone assist. If you are broke, like I am, generate the money through donations. Pick a ministry that offers email and a phone number.

    Here is my site:

    http://jwmidwest.com/index.asp

Make sure the exiting ministry you pick is moderate, balanced, fair. Here is an example:

    http://brci.org/

In this way, you reach the ones that are in a decision mode: either almost in or almost out....

PM me if you want further discussion....I have a hard time keeping up with threads.

    Take care,

    With empathy,

    Yours in this Journey,

    V

Tigerman, roooowr. er. Yes, I am smellsgood most foxy. Don't believe elseways, it is all lies spun by frumpy old spinsters who can't accept that one person can be endowed with such incredible sex appeal. Oh, hang on Johnny Depp is IM-ing me again *sigh* Alas, you live on the other side of the country!

    Ok.....

I see too many people getting hung up on the suggestion that one should follow JW's door to door, and whilst it is amusing to talk about of course it wouldn't be practical! If one were to feel that they would benefit and have a good ole time talking about the WT, cults in general, getting some messages out there, in whatever capacity they wanted, not on the heels of anyone else, I say go for it.

I also like ideas for banners, but let's not get to thinking that we have to give up one method to pursue another. It can be doing the banners, and giving speeches, and if one wants, going door to door. If it's agreeable to you.

Honesty, I think that is great, do you do that? It is admittedly a much more effective way of getting out the message to a greater number of people at one time. I think the interaction of person to person is something that cannot be underestimated however. ;)

I think the cool part of getting people educated, would be that hopefully we could get more people to the point where they will engage a JW when they come to their door, not just hide. I think that would be stupendous.

I`d rather stick pins in my eyes. Going back to that practice would just bring back tooooo many unhappy memories. Being a kid in the blistering cold and being told to enjoy it!!! No way Jose..

I admire your dedication. But I aint going door-to-door again till the next life.

    Nvrgnbk....ROFLMAO!!!!!!!

Amen to that bro. LOL When I was churchy and doing the christian thing I wanted to do cult awareness. I thought of going door to door an imforming the community about the witnesses. I also wanted to give a speech in churches warning chritendom about cults and how they think and beleive as I felt the dubs are getting some from the churches and I felt most christians know very little about cult tactics and I had the desire to tell them. As was said, I'll root for ya, but I ain't doin it again, lol! Gumby
