ilovegravy,,,
i love gravy too. I hope you have some door to door stories you'd be willing to share, as they entertain me like nothing else! Totally get it that you are through with knocking!
Gumby,
How about I go knocking, and I get to borrow your personal experiences, eh? again, totally get why it wouldn't be something everyone would be excited about. Too much time spent, too much negativity associated w/ it.
I'm all about innoculating the people from the cults! Hate seeing families torn apart and people dying for no blood and shit.
Would Any of You be Interested in going Door to Door?

I would say not just no but PLEASE DON'T. You'll end up looking really weird and maybe next time the person will ask the witnesses "why are these creepy people following you around" opening the door for a witness. So please don't do it.
Besides everyone knows that the "witnessing work" is a fraud. They don't bring anyone into their organization anymore through this method (or at least so few that country wide (US) it's a loosing statistic) So all you can do is cause harm and make witnesses feel persecuted (which they love!)
You want to hurt the witnesses? Hit them where they live! A more effective use of time and money would be to rent a billboard across the street from the kingdom hall and put lots of little witness factoids with websites on it. You know that there are a LOT of witnesses that would check them out.
I am 100% with you mkr32208.

I thought the reason apostates left was so they didn't need to go door to door.

Yeah, slimboyfat, it would have nought to do with the century of lies and falsehoods promulgated by that festering organization.

I assume that was a joke, SBF?
While it's a relief not to have to do that any more, it wasn't the reason I left, I simply didn't believe in watchtower bs anymore.
As for going door to door in an anti-jw campaign, I doubt it would be that effective, and Im not sure it's really necessary nowadays. The jws get very little success on the door to door work anyway, and someone following them around warning householders not to listen to them might even make some people decide to actually listen and accept their bs litereature. I wouldn't do anything that might have the slightest chance of encouraging anyone to listen to the jws, I wouldn't want that on my conscience.
Apart from that, the watchtower is doing enough to sink their own ship, with all the publicity about covering up child abuse cases they've had lately, and are likely to have in the future. While people would be unlikely, to say the least, to be interested in reasons why they are a cult and should not be listened to, most are interested in the type of scandal that results from news of such cases being made public. I really can't see anyone wanting to join an organisation that might put their children at risk.
Another reason why ex jws going door to door could backfire IMHO is that it would give the org yet another opportunity to promote the persecution complex we all know they have amongst their followers. It might even convince some who may be having doubts about the watchtower now think that maybe they do have the truth after all.

I thought the reason apostates left was so they didn't need to go door to door.
That's just another of the many lies taught by the watchtower cult. I'm sure we all know what the real purpose of field service™ is for the average JW. When getting ready for service™ in the morning, they may not know which territory™ they'll work in. They may not know if they will do door to door™, return visits™, or street work™. The only thing they know for certain is that they will spend at least one third of their morning in a donut shop filling their faces and gossiping with other cultists. It's a standing arrangement for them, and a standing joke for many of us. I know several Tim Hortons locations where I can go any Saturday at 11:00 AM and find it filled to capacity, most of the customers being Jehovah's Witnesses. It's very odd, seeing so many suits in a donut shop. I guess Tim Hortons has become the equivilent of a 5 star restaurant for the JWs. Very sad.
Unlike Jehovah's Witnesses, I don't feel the need to put on a suit, pretend I'm holy, and knock on a stranger's door before embarking on my real purpose - that of going to a donut shop.

Ah yes, apostate field work. Bringing Aware!-ness can never be a bad idea. Doing so door to door is surely an effective way.
See my posting history for tips on apostate field work that I've actually done door to door, using fliers I print up at home and distribute in the field...NEAR KINGDOM HALLS.
The opportunities to bring awareness are only as limited as your imagination.
Happy trails.
