I am sorry to say it Gill, but your post says a lot more about you

than the many thousands of anonymous men you so majestically denounce,

of which, only a minute fraction you have ever even met.

    I posted this comment here:

how long were each of us deluded by the BorgMindset? How many of us are partially trapped

and it got me to thinking, so I am posting another thread so as to not hijack this one completely.... to get your thoughts on this.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/136453/1.ashx

Gill- Mr. Flipper here. I definitely agree many of the elders are clones of one another. Likely because they are all controlled by a switchboard at the governing body, making them jump at every beck and call of that body. Sadly, the experiences I have had like many on this board have included being singled out by certain elders who had a vendetta against me because I would voice my opinion, which by the way would be a just opinion on speaking out in someones defense or my own, but it would piss them off, and they came after me. If you have a mind of your own, they definitely feel threatened and they go into attack mode. Weird , weird organization. But they have no hold on me anymore. I'm not intimidated in the least by them , nor do I shudder in fear anymore as I've been out for over four years. I just feel sorry that they can't see how controlled they are. It's quite sad. Peace out. Mr. Flipper

I knew several Elders that were "ok" however, in the end, if you question, they are as happy as a deranged pirate to help slit your throat.....

Many are caught up in an "unclean pratice:" Ego Masturbation. They, publicaly, stroke themselves, endlessly. Party on.....

My one experience with a JC taught me that the social interactions of the congo are the strongest control mechanism the borg has. Therefore, the importance of 1 Cor 15:33- no outside associates. If you have no outside associates, your world will come crashing down if you are dfd.

Quite by accident I developed several friendships outside of the org. This has hastened the clearing of the fog.

Idiot might be too strong a word, but they're clearly not qualified to do all the things they're asked to do. These are men with only high school diplomas who work primarily blue-collar jobs being asked to be psychologists, marriage counselors, sex therapists, spiritual guides. Most of the ones I knew, their own families were a mess, but they were telling other parents what they were doing wrong in raising their children. Ok, most of them were idiots.

Everytime I read one of these elder threads I stay amazed how much the wt has devolved ...don't get me wrong the tower has always been controling, but man what it has become over the last 30 years, or so, makes me wonder about the sanity of those that stay...baffling...but then I never had to to deal with a boe...

I admire those who, for whatever reasons, hang in there...I know as many times as I ran afoul of congergation servents in the old days I wouldn't last two minutes with an "elder"...hats off to those that do,,,you guys are packing some sand...

Marcel - I'm not intending to come across as ''Elder hatin' ' though I can understand why it would seem that way. But, the point I'm making is that the actions of Elders, directed by the puppet masters, the WT Society is too often cruel, heartless and judgemental. I have seen terrible results in peoples lives by their following direction from the Elders.

Nvrgnbk - I am impressed that so many elders manage to leave the Organization and end up here. It may well be that Elders are more controlled by the WT Society thatn any other JWs. They are in the spotlight in the congs. and it is much harder to fade quietly! Leaving takes balls. Being a double agent takes balls and a lot of patience! (Perhaps good acting skills as well!)

SnakesInTheTower - I find your story of being an Elder intersting. You've seen both sides of the 'system' especially having been at the receiving end of a Kangaroo Court. As I see it, elders have no choice but to act exactly as instructed by the WT Society. In a way, they have to give away their right to free thought even more than the publishers. To get up and leave the Organization is impressive. It's a sad reflection on the ones who cling to the Society and 'love its ways' however.

YesIdid - What does my thread say about me?

Does it say that I noticed what a lot of people noticed and commented on?

Does it say I only met the bad Elders and that the rest of them were good?

Does it discount the massive and abundant experiences of a lot of people on this board and still in the congregations?

Could it be that everyone elses experience with Elders are untrue?

I am 'denouncing' as you put it, the Watchtower Society and its effect of giving enormous power over the lives of ordinary people to uneducated and untrained men with no knowledge of counselling, psychiatry, psychology, medical training etc

The one thing these men are trained in is Watchtower Policy and protecting the ass of the Watchtower Society.

The publishers have to be kept in line for that reason only. It has nothing to do with 'love' of the congregation. Why else would two grown men, one a window cleaner and the other a bank clerk go to the 'refuge' of a battered JW woman and tell her to return to her husband ' because Jehovah hates a divorcing!'

If you can explain that reasoning to me and why my mother is afraid to put heating on in her house when she is cold, because my father 'won't let her' and 'he is her head' then I'm willing to say that the sun really does shine out of the arses of Elders.

I expect there are some 'good ones'. What makes them ALL bad is that they ALL enforce Watchtower Policy!

Flipper - You must have been doing something RIGHT for them to be chasing you down! You are so right however, that as time goes by you realise that they have absolutely NO POWER over you at all. There is an overiding sense of sadness for them! They appear as men who in a split second of time have taken a step off the edge of a cliff....and just don't know it yet! Very sad.

Vernon William - How dare anyone question the Society! They are the Society's Henchmen! As you put it, they're happy as a deranged pirate to slit your throat if you question'. That is something else they would ALL do!

Lrkr - The average JW has no 'outside' friends. They are well and truly trapped with no where to go. No wonder these men can delve and rummage into their lives at anytime.

Elders are like a plumber being asked to perform open heart surgery. There is only ONE result....and its NOT pretty!
