Since I'm taking a beating somewhere else, I might as well take one here.

If you Google "ghosts" you will get over 25 million results. Actually 25,200,000. Now I know some are repeats or whatever.

In checking just a few sites, some sell books, some have only experiences, some have both. One site I went to about 6 months ago had over 500 experiences. Now these experiences are the one's that people are willing to share. There are many people who don't share their experiences because they are afraid of ridicule.

From my own experience in reading some of these, they are up to date, namely 21st and late 20th century experiences. So, what about early 20th century experiences, 19th century experiences, 18th century experiences, etc?

Are/were all those who have had paranormal experiences delusional?

Are/were they all lying?

Are/were they all having the same hallucinations?

So, if you think you've seen a ghost....................MAYBE you have.

People's senses and imaginations cause spectacular stories to come about. Given any event that happens in public, ask the people in the audience what happened and you'll get as many differing accounts as there are people telling them. Furthermore, many people want to believe in ghosts. Given these observations, I place no stock in so called "ghost" sightings.

I'm curious how believers reason; do you believe that the Son-of-Sam killer really was contacted by "ghost" (or some sort of supernatural being speaking thru his dog) who told him to kill people?

What about the poster on JWD who believes she hears Jesus giving her pronouncements for her to make to us; do you believe she is A) lying (really doesn't "hear" anything at all), or B) Jesus is really communicating with her about JWD, or C) some other supernatural being is communicating with her about JWD and fooling her into thinking it is Jesus, or D) that other explanation?

I realize that both of the above examples are of an auditory type experience, whereas ghost sightings are thought of as "visual" experiences ("I saw it with my own two eyes!"). So, depending on your thoughts about the above, I wonder if you think that extraordinary auditory experiences are more likely to be "delusional" in nature than extraordinary visual experiences?

I haven't seen a ghost and I'm skeptical that they exist.

Living in a home I rented for 17 years, I did hear something that freaked me out. I heard it often if I were awake just after midnight. My wife had heard it too.

Footsteps coming up the cellar stairs. Without a doubt they were male wearing shoes. Then we could hear the doorknob turn and the cellar door would creek when opened. Lying in bed, we couldn't see the door, but the creek was distinctive with this door. We knew it may have opened.

Then the footsteps continued in a u-turn into the bathroom. Again a distinctive sound that matched the bathroom door told us the door was closing. Ten seconds in all comes to an end when we hear the bathroom door close.

The bathroom light was kept on all the time for the kids and we could see the light on a wall from our bed. The light remained on the wall and it shouldn't have if the door actually closed.

I had gotten up and investigated this a number of times and found nothing to explain it. The kids were always sleeping.

Personally, and this is just me, I think I would more likely believe someone "saw" something, or heard sounds, like footsteps, doors opening or closing, even screams, rather than voices that "speak" to them, even though I have known people who have heard voices, occasionally calling their name.

Of course we cant believe story we read, hear, or see on tv. But like you said.......there are just way too many. Not every single person who believes what they saw or heard could be making it up.
