I agree that that is unlikely (depending on what one means by "making it up") to the point of silliness. OTOH, why shouldn't I believe that they aren't all "delusional"?

If you agree that all humans can be deluded, and more specifically, are prone to being deluded by their own minds, then that seems to me to be the simplest explanation.

I don't think you'd find anyone studying the various sciences of psychology or human thought who would not agree that virtually all humans can be deluded, and are prone to deluding themselves.

Are animals prone to being deluded too? Why do my cats glair at something I dont see? They did that again the other day, my daughters friend and I were both watching them. They both kept moving their heads at the same time, following something that we couldnt see. Sometimes they crouch down like they are scared...both at the same time, and are looking in the same direction.

I know if they were just watching a bug fly around......there would be no need for them to be scared.

Now that you brought it up, there is a bedroom in the owners house that the dog will not go into, the bedroom of his deceased wife. That is the only room the dog will not go into.

Ok, my cats leap up the wall too.....but usually cuz they are trying to cat a fly, or there is a light on the wall. (laser pointers drive them nuts)

But sorry, cats are far from stupid! At least mine are!

I don't know if my dad's ghost did this, but when he lived in his home, he always played around with his 2 favorite thermostats and when the house was sold 10 days ago, the same day as the new people moved in, the heating turned on full blast, in the summer time. And this happened with the 2 thermostats dad used so often in 2 different rooms on 2 different circuits at the same time. The heating never turned on by itself before..lol

What a cooincidence that the same day that new people move in my dads home, the 2 thermostats that he played around with the most, started heating both rooms maxiumum heat even if the thermostats were off.

So my mom went over the next day to witness that, and it happened again, so I went over and it was back to normal and didnt do that again.

Dad liked his house spotless, and no animals.....This new couple that moved in aren't tidy and they have 2 dogs.... That would have got dad mad.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that when my dad passed away and my mom was living alone in that big house, she heard strange noises in the house.....that she didn't hear before.

I was watching a show Monday night on the Animal planet station called, "It's me or the dog." The trainer in the show stated dogs can see light ranges that humans cant see. To us they appear to chase or react to invisible things. Perhaps cats do that too.
