When there is interaction among so many different types of people, there is probably no way some won't be hurt or offended at some time or other.
Personally, I am grateful for some of the things that have been said to me that seemed hurtful and scathing at the time (not necessarily on this board), but only if they were true. Once when I was having issues at work, my ex said to me, "You go to work to earn a paycheck, not to build a little utopia." I don't like the way he said it or his general attitude at that moment. But once I stepped away and took away the emotion, I realized that the words had merit. Attending the school of hard knocks is the only way some of us are going to learn. When I was young, people used reasoned arguments to persuade me not to become a JW. I did not listen, but learned the hard way. The cruelty of the JW elders taught me what I needed to learn.
Some people will not like you, me or other individuals. This was a lesson I got to teach my granddaughter when she was about six years old and upset about the way one older child was treating her and sometimes making a point of ignoring her. We talked to the older girl, and she admitted she simply did not like my granddaughter. I told my granddaughter that not everyone in the world was going to like her, attractive and popular as she was (and is). She accepted it incredibly well for someone her age and didn't seem to have hard feelings toward the girl who didn't like her. She made me proud.
We who are highly sensitive need to learn above all that others' assessment of us is not who we are. Self acceptance is a blessing beyond description.

Minimus I can see now the watchtoweresque sentence was a twist of irony. Their sentences sound very serious and determined on the surface but lack any real depth or intention. They are hypocritical. I suppose it was for someone who is fixated upon finding something good in that venomous serpant.
