Well anyway about Jesus ...why would you say he never existed when we have the proof that he did walk on the earth as a man...and He is alive to date?
1. The man named Pontius Pilate. Don't you believe that he existed? Jesus was crucified when Pontius Pilate was alive.
2. There was a second century Greek satirist called Lucian of Samosata who wrote about Jesus. He implied that Jesus was a powerful and an honoured teacher.
If you read the Gospel of John you will find that there are many references to particular buildings and landscapes that has historical value. This is just proof in itself that the bible is true and valid.
How can one deny these things?

Maybe some of you may not know this, but there is proof about Jesus outside the Bible. Ever heard about of Josephus? He was a first century Jewish historian. He wrote about Jesus in his Jewish Antiquities. And get this...this fellow Josephus was not a even a Christian!
This is what Josephus wrote:
"Festus was now dead, and Albinus was but upon the road; so he assembled the sanhedrim of judges, and brought before them the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ, who name was James, and some others..." (Ant., Book XX).

the dreamer dreaming: am not sure that Jesus was more than a retelling of a very old myth... I have no idea who he really was if he was at all. as for his teachings, most of them seem to have existed long before him nothing original. if he was real, he seems little different from other cult leaders to me now especially with his Kiss my ass or suffer eternally. attitude.
dreamer maybe you might be interested in my previous post. There is historical facts that Jesus exists. Jesus is not a myth. You said you have no idea who he really was. I wonder if you have ever really taken the time to know Him. It would be good to find out about Him and what He gave to us. His teachings are very original. No one has said or done the things that He has before He was in the flesh. He performed great miracles. These came from Him. In the time of Moses, God performed the miracles through Moses eg. parting the red sea, striking of the rock to get water. I know some of you wouldn't like what I say but Jesus is God.
People are the ones who say Jesus cruel. What they seem to miss is that Jesus never sinned and He only spoke good things. It is not how you say he says,"Kiss my ass or suffer eternally". What Jesus said is, "Follow me and I will give you rest. Cast your burdens unto me. I will take care of you." He is helping us and instead you think He wants to hurt us? No no, the devil is the one doing that and blinding the eyes.

These arguments are so simple to destroy. First, all the writing about this Jesus isn't contemporary. It comes much much later than the time he supposedly existed. Nobody alive during the 'time of Jesus' ever wrote about him. Hmmm, you'd think they would.
I know a man called Steve who lived in London and travelled down to a port and went to New York on a ship. On the way there, he jumped into the sea, caught seventy fish in his mouth AND managed to get back on board before the ship reached its destination. Now, do you believe he did those things? You should do if you agree with hibie's argument, because there are some real place names included- New York and London. They really exist. Therefore, the rest of the story is completely true.

Terry: Further, what most people really call Christianity is PAUL. I challenge anybody here to give me a meaningful Christianity that pretends Paul never existed. The real Christianity is swept away mostly by the outrageous Platonic perversion of Judaism paganized by the "Apostle" Paul. His theology is based on his self-anointing as "chosen" by an hallucinated Jesus. Outrageous. Why isn't Jesus enough for Christians?
Please do elaborate Terry. When you say most people, who are you referring to? You must be referring to a particular religion. What are you really saying about Paul?
Briefly, Paul's name was Saul. He lived in Tarsus as a boy. He left home and went to Jerusalem to study Jewish religion. He became a very strict Pharisee believing in the Law of Moses. He hated those who went against these laws. He mistreated and put in prison all those who believed in Jesus. Let's say the 'religion' of Jesus was spreading fast.
Saul was angry and wanted to stop it. He was on his way to Damascus to search for these followers to kill them or bring them back to Jerusalem to put them in prison. On his way, Jesus of Nazareth appeared in the form of a great light and asked Saul why he was persecuting him. Saul knew he had done wrong. He became blind from the light. Jesus told him what to do when he went to Damascus.
Well I suppose you know about the rest. That is history. Saul's name was changed to Paul. Many things happened to him. He did it all for Jesus. However, one must keep in mind, Paul is not Jesus or God. Paul did the work he was supposed to do. Something you are saying that I am not sure what you are trying to get at Terry.

Terry why would you say that the Flood of Noah is reportedly reffered to as a real historical event. Is it so hard to believe? If Jesus said it is true who are you to say it wasn't so. Were you there? No you were not and even though we have pages in history about the flood you still do not believe but choose to believe in everything else that have no real proof except for the assumptions of 'maybe', 'a possibility', 'perhaps', 'could have', 'may have'. You do not seem to really enjoy history. Jesus never lied.
Biblical record speaks of very long life spans. Adam lived over 900 years. Life was much different before Noah's flood. There are fossils to prove this too. For example, there is evidence in samples of ancient amber that the atmosphere contained twice as much oxygen is it does today and that the atmospheric pressure was much greater. Therefore, there would have been other animals and plants living on the earth before we even dreamed to be born. You know how our animals have a habit of becoming extinct. That hole in the ozone layer is getting bigger and bigger. Atmospheric conditions are changing right before our eyes. The bible talks about these drastic weather changes too.
Genesis has great history in it.
