    Ok hibi

    1. Do you really think that a person's values should affect his translation of a work from one language to another?
    2. Yes, scholarship is better now than it was 400 years ago
    3. You do realize that your KJV has been revised over the centuries by so called "people of lesser morals"

If you really admit what is going on you will say that the world is getting worse with time. Our morals and personalities have fallen. Individuals have deteriorated in their dispositions and values as far back as the 1600s. There is lack of self-control. The atmostphere and the environment have changed drastically to the worse. There is more pollution and greed with the more we have.

Have you studied history? You do know that church leaders were the most corrupt people of the time? Hibi, sometimes I think you try to be inflammatory just for the sake of stirring the pot.

ringo: Hibie, do you remember when Satan took Jesus to the top of a mountain to see all the kingdoms of the world? Obviously, one cannot see all the surface of earth from any perspective, including a mountain top. So why take him there? (if it was a vision, there would be no need to go anywhere)

Perhaps to get a view of the surrounding kingdoms, that is, the local area or the known world at that time. So "all the kingdoms of the world" does not necessarily mean the literal world or earth. So jesus could still refer to the flood in this same use of the word and not mean a literal earth wide flood

ringo when satan took Jesus to the high mountain, he showed Jesus the kingdoms of the world. But all the kingdoms of the world belong to God, so Jesus knew better than to even bother with that old devil. The message in this is that unlike us, Jesus always conquered temptation. Jesus never sinned he came to do His Father's work.

The flood of Noah has nothing to do with these kingdoms of the world. These are two completely different things that you are talking about. The flood was literal just like rough waves.

"According to the Bible, Adam was alive 6000 years ago. How do you explain the fact that human fossils have been found which predate this time?"

The argument I've heard about this (from a teacher no less - a die hard Baptist) is that carbon dating is unreliable.

The idea that only ONE METHOD of dating exists should be put to rest.

Science differs from belief in that it seeks to verify its claims by measurement, observation, testing, falsification models and remaining open to evidence of disproof.

    Modern radiometric dating

Radiometric dating continues to be the predominant way scientists date geologic timescales. Techniques for radioactive dating have been tested and fine tuned for the past 50+ years. Forty or so different dating techniques are utilized to date a wide variety of materials, and dates for the same sample using these techniques are in very close agreement on the age of the material.

    1. There is a possibility that dishonest people can be biased enough to distort the truth especially when it is just from their own point of view. The bible was inspired by God. Man is too wicked.

    2. Scholarship is not better now. If you would realise that we have too many children playing games and surfing the internet. Pick them up on their time-tables. Oh but why when we have a computer doing that. The brain isn't working like those from the past. People want to have everything their own way. They had to use their brains. The technology we have today was to help us but it just doesn't make us smarter or skillful or talented especially since the computer or machines do all the work for us. If you do these things manual, you would find it is more difficult. People in the past did not have all these things so they did it themselves. They had more experience.

    3. Yes the KJV has been revised . That is why I am not using the other versions. You need to have the KJV at hand always if you are using a revised version. It's like you cannot get the true flavour of something when you water down the food and use substitutes. Frozen food compare to the original thing. Can't you taste it?

Have you studied history? You do know that church leaders were the most corrupt people of the time?

Well to tell the truth I really didn't care for history too much because of evolution. Man there is no way we came from monkeys. Imagine so many donkey years and not once have we seen a monkey turn into a human or resemble us in anyway. I mean sure we have ugly people but not like apes. Ok and those church leaders you are talking about may actually have been the roman leaders. Who are you referring to? I don't want to go further unless I know who you are talking about because those people who claimed to be Christians were not. They were liars and killed the true believers in Jesus.

Na I dont care to go any further. You are just stringing random words together interspersed with moments of pseudo-clarity.

That or your sole purpose is as a troll trying to inflame people. I have a hard time believing you are as ignorant as you pretend to be.

    Have fun!!!

In other words, science is progressive.

That's more than you can say for belief. I'd rather put my trust
in science anytime than in a book written a few thousand years
ago in the Middle East that may not have been translated from
the languages it was originally written in accurately anyway.

No, not at all. How am I supposed to know which church leaders you are referring to if we have so many various churches? I know of a great "church" that claims to be more superior than all the rest. The main thing to note of that religion is that they are extremely rich. I don't want to say but that is where nonsense really happened.

By the way I am not trying to portray myself as ignorant. My main purpose is get straight to the point. There is real truth among the lies. We need to have some sort of guidance in our quest for the truth. How do we find that? Jesus is the truth.

King James Version - yeah, the only true one, it's the version that Jesus himself read...

Hibie - serious question, think very long, deep and carefully before you reply - what/who do you believe in - Jesus or the Bible?

Hi dedpoet, I just wanted to let you know that you are making the assumption that the bible "may not have been" translated accurately from the languages that it was originally written. If you were to tell a story about your great grandparents' past would you be able to get the facts right? Who would know the actual events that really occured? Wouldn't your grand parents know more than your parents? Who would you trust with the true event....your parents or your grandparents. Who would have more information. Some people think our older generation don't have much to offer, on the contrary.

Our language has even changed now. What the people in the past would have used we may not understand it fully and they would not understand our modern slangs.

The point is why change the past history to suit ourselves? We would just be changing everything. People of long ago were different. They enjoyed life a different way. Even though they were simple they were very smart and they paved the way for us. They know about the past because they lived it.

We can only make assuptions that this or that happened. But we have a book that would be forever unchanged and we can trust in it. And Jesus is the same today, yesterday and forevermore. Jesus is Lord.
