I have no idea and no means of knowing. Anyone that tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something.

It makes me sad to think that billions of people may be living and dying and that is all there is, but no amount of sorrow can create an afterlife if one does not exist. I'm just a realist.

If I die and wake up in an afterlife, then all the theists can mock my poor earthly views while we go around deflowering our 70 perpetual virgins. Even if I'm in hell, that's better than what I'm currently looking forward to.

If I'm right though, each of our lives will have been equally futile on the cosmic scale.

I live my life like it's all I have and I treat everyone else like their life is all they will experience as well. It's only a short time, why waste it on negative words or actions?

    Keep on flipping Mr. Flipper!

PARLIPOMEN- Yeah, I definitely agree with you. I , too try to treat others decent like this life is all we've got, so I go by the motto, live life to the fullest like it's your last day, ya just never know. I had some great guy friends over the years who died, great senses of humor they had. A lot of their humorous ways and quirky humor lived on in me. It helps us to use laughter to get through this life, I truly believe in it ! Peace to you PAR. Peace out Mr. Flipper

Regarding Sylvia Browne: I think she is psychic. Just b/c you are psychic does not mean you know the answer to everything. That is not the way it works. I do not begrudge her for not knowing all the answers. If she would just say that she did not know, and let it go, I would not think less of her. Unfortunately she must read her own press releases and now thinks she must answer all questions, whether she knows the answer or not. That is not all her fault, their is pressure on her to prove she is psychic. But underlying it all is greed. She wouldn't make much money if she was honest and admitted that no one knows the answer to everything. .

I still find her to have worth . I take what Ican and leave what I think is hyperbole.. I won't ever pay $700 for a Reading. but I do buy some of her books and take what i can from them.

absolute power corrupts absolutely. this is how I see her.

    Literal meaning.

    Origin

This arose as a quotation by Lord Acton in a letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton in 1887:

"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men."

William Pitt the Younger, The Earl of Chatham and British Prime Minister from 1766 to 1778, is sometimes wrongly attributed as the source. He did say something similar though, in a speech to the UK House of Lords in 1770:

"Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it"

WEDNESDAY- Thanks for the clarification on Sylvia Browne. I really don't know much about her. Just responding to what you all are saying. I really have no informed opinion. But I do agree with you statement, Power corrupts, and Absolute Power corrupts Absolutely. I've stated that many times

All of the evidence suggest that you go nowhere when you die. You cease to exist.

Anything past that I cant worry about.

If I die and continue to exist somehow... HUZZZAHHH!!!

If I die and thats it... I wont know any better anyway. HUZZZAHHH!!!

No one knows for sure what happens when we die, those who say, we cease to exist, are speculating, those who say we go on, are speculating. I can say that having worked in a hospital environment, and seeing many people pass away, I can't number how many elderly patients would say, I am dieing, they are coming for me, or something along those lines. Often it was people who were recovering very nicely and soon to be discharged. Boom, they die. Is it some hallucination? Perhaps, but, perhaps not. Tell ya what, if I die prematurely and there is an afterlife, I'll come haunt JWD, posting as the SweetGhost to let you all know the deal, k? Until then, who knows?

IPSEC- I tend to agree with your take. I've never heard back from any of my deceased friends. If I'm unconsciuos when dead, guess I won't know either !

SWEETSTUFF- You are right. We don't know. However I'll be unconsious, I know that ! Bet you've seen some touching things working in the hospital with these people. Glad though, you want to come back and haunt us as a sweet ghost as opposed to a pissed off ex-jw ghost !

    Peace out, Mr. Flipper

HOMEROVAH- Oh!, if only my mind were adept enough to live for eternity in it's own conciousness. Would that be the same as living forever ? LOL

materialistic atheists ignore the most important points... if we are just animated matter...then the brain is just a very very complex computer and is doing nothing more than moving DATA around a bio-chemical circuit and data can be symbolized and carried on just about any medium such as electrical impulses and chemical releases, etc... but there is no explanation for the perceiver of that data. no matter how many ones and zeros you can ever move around a circuit you will never find any part of that circuit able to FEEL pain and pleasure and SEE red and blue or green...all data can do is symbolize these things, not expeirence them. conscious minds are different from any computer in that we experience pain and pleasure and CARE about which we will experience next... computer do not give a $#!+ because win or lose its all the same to them, they have no self to be self interested in... they can be programmed to pretend to care, but they cannot care on their own for themselves.

no amount of data processing and data manipulation can produce a data experiencer, sorry, Terry, you are just flat out wrong on this one.
