The best possible place for burial according to a very old and still current Jewish tradition is outside the Golden Gate East of Jerusalem. Those who are buried there will be the first to be resurrected when the Messiah comes from the Mount of Olives, to enter the city. Whatever the exact origins of this tradition, this sector was already a burial place long before the Roman period.

I take this as being literal that some of the saints were risen in to the HOLY CITY of New Jerusalam, to say that this could not happen before Jesus was there raises a Question as to Matt 17:2-4 where Jesus was transfigured and standing with him were Moses and Elijah. Now Elijah was taken by God in 2 Kings 2 so what happened to him is up for debate but Moses most certianly died and was buried, so to see him at the transfiguration would mean that he was in some heavenly facet that would make him ascessible to Jesus to talk to. This makes it really possible that saints were risen and to the astonsment of all were taken to a heavenly HOLY CITY.

All the more reason that this is very possible resurrection of the 144, 000 holy ones.

Verse very specifically says it was holy ones who were risen.

(Not all the dead randomly upheaved from their graves as the wbts is so boldly changing the words.)

Isn't it amazing the confusion over this passage? Every other resurrection recorded in the scriptures were just that a resurrecton. All of a sudden we have passage no one can come up with a clear answer for.

It seems people must make their time tables fit inot personal doctrine reqarding these passages - why? Why are these verses so importand that is the real question? What if the holy ones received a resurrection to life once Christ gave his life for them. What if Christ is the fulfilment of all the prophets before him? Why shouldn't his death and sacrifice be a living testimony to every thing he preached?

Simple it doesn't not fit into doctrinal teachings - wow it not like we haven't been wrong before hum?

Joseph said: A priest would be considered a Saint by the Jews.

Did Matthew consider himself an opposer of that religious sect because of his association with Jesus?

Would Matthew have referred to the priests, scribes, and pharisees as "holy ones"?

Would he have given them acknowledgement as "holy ones"?

Did Jesus teach that they were the "holy ones"?

I am under the impression that Matthew would have had a different concept of criteria of "holy ones" due to his close association with Jesus.

    MJ,

They would have been carried in for preparation and reburial. Everyone would then see them. This is not a problem.

Every other resurrection recorded in the scriptures were just that a resurrecton.

How could any other instances of "resurrection" actually have been such if they were not brought back perfect (physically)?

Perhaps Lazarus was in a comatose state. In that ase would resurrection be the correct word?

And what about people who have had near death experience... where all machines read that they are dead and yet they have revived?

Do you consider that a resurrection?

How can resurrection have such a double meaning? Brought back as is...and brought back in perfection (physically).

    Writetoknow,

What if they did not? Then the meaning of the Greek words used here have another application we may have missed. And the Greek word common used for Resurrection (anastasis) was not used in these verses. Why then ignore other verses that refute such thinking and cause another problem?

    Tula,

Quit it with the 144,000! :-)

The 144,000 had nothing to do with anyone's thinking until the description of a vision in Revelation!

    I CAN'T!!!

I just know there is something important here. I just cannot accept that it is one of those "mysteries of Babylon". Mysteries are supposed to be unraveled and new scrolls opened and I am going to push this envelope till someone finds it.

I know I have seen something in OT about 144,000. I am going to read through again till I find it. Oh, Evelyn Wood, why did I not take that speed reading course??
