This is probably going to bring on a lot of heat, but I am for bringing orphanages back in order to supplement foster parenting.

I think they should be STRICTLY regulated and those that run them should have to meet certain criteria and the care-

givers that work there should be screened and educated. If done properly, I think it could be an excellent alternative to

abortion. Just like right now, a person can take their newborn to a hospital, police station, or emergency care facility and

give it to them...no questions asked (in the USA, anyway). All they have to do is say, "I cannot care for my child," and hand

it over. If there is no available foster parent, an orphanage properly run and regulated could care for the little one until it can

be adopted. What are your thoughts about this?

Here's a question: A person unknown to you needs a kidney transplant, or they will certainly die within months, You are a perfect tissue match. If you donate a kidney, you are subject to a definate risk of complications, possibly death; and months of convalescence. Should you be obligated to go through with the donation?

No. Which is why I believe in women having a choice - which is why I believe that women should have easy access to 'the day after pill' so that abortion does not have to be a choice, which is why I believe that I cannot be pro-life and still believe in war or the death penalty. sammieswife.

    That's definitely something to ponder.

So, if you are for the death penalty and believe that sometimes war is necessary, but are against abortion, then you can label yourself anti-abortion rather than pro-life. Makes sense.

I strongly agree, Journey On. The only alternative to death, is life. Better is a live dog, than a dead lion, as was put to us in scripture. The best alternative to having ones soul destroyed is to allow that individual an opportunity to have life placed before them. At least they have a chance at living and finding a special place in this world. Beats a blank.

    llbh,

Imagine two people robbing a bank. One runs and manages to get away and the other person goes to prison. Was it wrong that the person who got caught was sent to prison simply because the other person got away with it? Aren't women "empowered" now? Don't women have just as much choice to jump in the sack as the men do now?

Yes, my daughter and I were just discussing this about an hour ago. I used to feel that the day after pill was immoral but not anymore.

    No.

Abortion is the pre-meditated murder of an infant.

V PS: I have not read any other posts....will now...
