Personally, I think the definition of cheating on your mate is pretty simple. Betrayal. Hurt. Disrespect. If you are doing something that you know would hurt your spouse to the quick, you are cheating. Heck just put yourelf in their place, pretty easy to determine your answer there. And this hasn't a darn thing to do with religious beliefs, it's purely humanist. Why have a spouse/mate, if they don't have your love, trust and respect? If the bond doesn't go any deeper than that, why have one??

Sorry, beating your wife isn't included in the classical meaning of cheating. Only sex with person another is classical meaning of cheating.
Betrayal, Hurt, Disrespect, yet again if you think these are cheating you shouldn't marry.
BTW; while hurt isn't a reason to leave a marriage, abuse is, to clear that up.

My point is being missed. If 2 people happen to hit the lottery and get hitched with a good combination happy families are much simpler. When that is not so it's like being stuck for the rest of your life with someone you know you don't see eye to eye with or want to get hold of every time you walk in the room. It's not so much about cheating but being inspired to seek that someone who makes life worth coming home to - for each of you, and being prepared to move on when this is not the case for the sake of everyones futures. If this were one of a series of WT articles I may still be there with someone I was crazy about and all of us having great escapades on moorland and heath. Haaaah dear oh dear!
