wha happened?

I feel that taking on the responsibility of an elder is no more a deception that continuing to go to meetings if one is of the opinion that this is not God's organization. I've faded out as has my wife but she is pressuring me to return. She is convinced that we will just die and that will be it for us. I have considered going back with her to maintain peace. Also because a number of elders were very confident with me when I was active, I used to be privy to more than the average JDub. If I return I will very likely be fed tidbits as before. I'm on the fence as to what I would personally do, but I am pondering a similar decision.

Can't you just tell them that you don't feel you are ready for this responsibility. When Clyde declined the elder position way back when the elder arrangement first started, he told me, "Moses was 80 years old before God used him for a responsible position. I just need a little more time." Then you could drop your hours down to about five a month. By the time the CO comes around again, you wouldn't qualify. Just a thought.....

I would say that if the holy spirit directs them tomake you an elder, then you have solid evidence that the holy spirit is not amongst this people and I'd go for it, and use every bit of information you get to help captives get the hell out!

Actually, my husband was appointed an MS doing 10 fake hours. One day he just didn't go back. He was only an MS for about 6 months.

I am an active witness too. But because I'm a female, I don't have that kind of pressure. Why haven't I left the organization? I don't want to break my parents’ hearts. I cannot imagine them not talking to me or thinking that I am going to die in Armageddon. They are already senior’s citizens; I don't think they will ever change their beliefs. So, ottb, I understand why you hold on.

I say do it, for our own selfish needs...but damn that's a lot of work and stress to put in just for a couple of tidbits of info we would find out somehow anyways.

I suggest coercing your wife into giving her oral sex. Then go to the elders and say you can't in good conscience be an elder considering you have a weakness for her girly bits.

I was an MS until Sept '06.They threw a lot on me, accounts and weekly assignments/talks. I probably would've been elder at an English congo but they have higher standards in the Spanish ones. I was only pulling about 10 a month and the cong average was way higher. Either way, I was getting close to elderhood what with the MS workload being such a nightmare. The elders at my congo were real worn out and miserable looking.

I faded this year. Last time I attended a meeting was March.

Why invite more stress into your life? Information will always get out eventually. Keep your dignity and selfworth intact.

If you know that it's all crap, then ask yourself: which is easier, to avoid becoming an elder now - or to 'step down' later?

Make no mistake about it, if you know the "truth" is nonsense, then eventually you won't be able to take it anymore. You will have to find

a way out - and that won't be any easier from an elder's position.
