Her father, Muhammad Parvez, 57, was arrested at the scene and will be formally charged with murder when he appears in court Wednesday, said police. The girl's friends, meanwhile, told local media she was having trouble at home because she did not conform to the family's religious beliefs and refused to wear a traditional Islamic head scarf, or hijab.

And Canada continues to let these assholes into the country by the droves ..............Had this happened in an Islamic country, the father would almost certainly have not been arrested or charged with anything. As for the mother not being mentioned in all this---well, is that any surprise? A woman has no say in anything in that stupid religion/culture. Maybe she didn't want to end up like her daughter.......

I did a thread a couple of years ago on the sharia law that Muslim men wanted to implement: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/98043/1.ashx

Well, that will teach her, huh? I hope he spends the rest of his life in prison thinking about his beautiful daughter. I also hope other Muslims in this country wake up. If they don't want their children to follow western culture, why come to western counties?

Though I have done my research and know that not all Muslims are like this and have been intrested by Islamic Science and how it formed a bases for most modern science today. Just to avoid a anti Islam debate.

I work professionally as an engineer and have travelled all around Canada on many different jobs. During my travels I have lived with many different Muslims and to their credit the ones I met were very nice people, they were extremely intelligent and knew their stuff when it came to engineering. I also had a great many discussions with them about religion and they were very knowledgeable about history and made some sound arguments.

However, there is a line you cannot cross with Muslims just as their is with JW's, they will treat you nicely if you are not a Muslim, but if you are an ex-Muslim that’s a completely different story. The change in demeanour in these people is amazing, how they can go from being totally reasonable and intelligent to foaming at the mouth saying people who defame the name of Islam should be killed, is beyond my ability to comprehend.

I was at CFI this past weekend and talking with an ex-Muslim girl who tried to create a bridge between moderates and former Muslims by getting these groups to call for peace and condemn threats and killing of ex-Muslims. She was making some progress until they discovered an older article she wrote condemning Islam and afterwards they refused to talk to her and she found out later that her name was put on a hit list of 'apostate' Muslims who were to be killed by 'faithful' Muslims, this was done by the very 'moderates' that she was trying to work with.

Make no mistake either, the whole idea of 'Muslim' science is just silly, there is no more 'Muslim' science than there is Christian, Jewish or Buddhist science. There is merely science, what can be proven is universally accepted and taught to people regardless of faith. In fact today middle eastern countries produce the lowest ratio of scientific papers published per captia in the world. Why? Imagine a whole country that is ruled by a JW type government that considers science to be mostly evil and discourages 'independent' thinking. If anything it would be more accurate to talk about Muslim anti-science today.

Sickoflies: Unless you want me to post up every scrap of information on Islamic science and then each of the ten dozen sources, it saves space, though the outcome is the same and that is the fact that religion and science are compatible, though I am sure your biased brain will find a way to russel up a few paragraphs of anti religious text to prove fact wrong.

What exactly are you trying to prove here? That the religion of Islam is responsible for the advance of science? If that is the case then why hasn't there been any scientific developments out of Islamic countries since the 13th century?

What do you mean by 'Islamic science' and how does it differ from 'Christian science' or 'Atheist science'? How many kinds of science are there?

This thread has nothing to do with the compability of science and religion, try reading before posting.

I'm surprised at this comment. This has nothing to do with Canada's immigration laws and everything to do with religious fanatics. The news report says nothing about the person's employment, for all we know he could be a doctor which Canada desprately needs in which case his immigration and immigration of other skilled and educated individuals is important to our nations growth. It's the baggage they bring along (fanaticism) that is the problem and if you refuse someone entry for their religious beliefs, how is that any different from a country refusing someone entry for having none.

At least this did happen here as there will be some sort of justice for the girl. It's just too bad it happened in the first place.
