Hmm, well let's see, this guy killed his daughter because she wouldn't wearing a frikkin scarf on her hair, religion of peace, pffftt. For those of you defending Islam, have you read any of the Quran? Take a good read thru it and tell me where peace comes into play in that "holy book". If you haven't read it, don't defend it.

People are saying, immigrants have a right to not conform to our standards, our lifestyles, etc. Well, if not conforming means you have a right to kill your child for not wearing a head covering, sorry, umm, forget that. Would any of you want to send your wife, daughter or sister to a muslim country? She'd have a right to maintain her customs and beliefs right? To dress how she was raised to in her country, without any presecution right? Do any of you think for a second that would be how things would go down??? I would love to see one person answer yes to that!!! Do we publically beat, torture or kill anyone coming to Canada for following their beliefs and customs? Nope.

If I went to Saudi Arabia tomorrow, with my long blonde hair and wore a sexy top and fitted jeans and had my hair flowing.. as I am used to here in my country, what do you think the reaction would be? Do you think I would just be ignored as, 'well, she's not from here'? I'd be either imprisoned, raped, beaten, murdered or all of the above, if I chose to say, I have my rights as a canadian, a christian, agnostic, or atheist.Anyone who wants rights they aren't willing to extent to others is a hypocrite. If they are a religiously fanatic hypocrite, houston we have a problem!

    Right, Sweetstuff,

Also, if you are raped it is ALWAYS your fault, unless some men will speak up for you. You better not make fun of Mohammad either, not even drawing his likeness---and God ahem Allah forbid you name a teddy bear after him.

The world is just getting too politically correct. You can't say anything because it's their culture, their religion.

Agreed Dinah, I respect those who respect me and others. If they don't they can kiss my lovely alabaster a$$.

    Sweetstuff and Dinah,

    You two are right on.

Some of us are going to be burned to a crisp with a suitcase nuke before this country wakes up and leads the world to rid it of Islam.

Actually hon, it's a combination of both our immigration laws allowing religious fanatics in. We let them in, and now they're creating their own Islamic cultures here where men dominate females, just as they did in their own home countries.

Though I have done my research and know that not all Muslims are like this and have been intrested by Islamic Science and how it formed a bases for most modern science today. Just to avoid a anti Islam debate

"Islamic science" flourished because it allowed debate and research and (relative) tolerance of other cultures, this melting pot is precisely the reason they were ahead of medieval europe etc. where science or new ideas as often as not would get you killed for "heresy" or "witchcraft." It is precisely this sort of tolerance that allowed "european" science to flourish during the renaissance and this sort of intolerance now which keeps the Islamic countries behind.

If you want some references, start with Maimonides.

I AM aware of the Muslim scholars of the time such as Avicenna and Averroes.

Averroes for instance wrote commentary on Aristotle.

I was gonna say something about Lorena Bobbit, but it doesn't seem appropriate at this juncture.

This is a very sad story. But, beyond the sadness, it must make us reflect on the awful nature of Islam as a religion. Now, more than ever, I identify with the critique against Islam made by disident or infidel Ayaan Hirsi Ali (look up her interviews on Google videos).

Just watched her apology to Salman Rushdie. What a brave woman. I believe it's going to take the women to stand up and fight. Religion makes me sick......

I don't know why, but as a woman it makes me soooooo MAD to see these women going around with napkins on their heads!!!!!! I feel so proud of that young woman rebelling against this nonsense, but saddened by the consequences. I think the laws in America and Canada should be extremely stiff for anyone pushing this on someone against their will. When these people come to live in our country it needs to be a requirement that they are ready to obey "our" laws.
