Seeing as it is OK for you to talk to apostates and disfellowshiped brothers without a problem. I think you should be able to understand why I think it is OK for those that need to have blood, to have it.

Due to Bible-based beliefs, One should not ... accept tranfusions of whole blood or its four major components namely, red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets (thrombocytes), and whole plasma.
Due to Bible-based beliefs, ... People Should be instructed to personally decide whether or not to accept fractions, and medical procedures that involve their own blood.

-A little clever, "Watchtower style" quoting here, but I only wanted to make your points clearer by doing so.

So - what Bible based beliefs are used to show that fractions are allowed, and to show which exact fractions should be allowed?

And why is this a stand-alone thread, and not a reply to Vinny's rather extensive thread posted this same day?

I appreciate your post Aleman, and I appreciate that the bible is very specific regarding the sanctity in blood.

However, did you notice in Mark 2:23-27 Jesus is speaking about David. David broke a law to simply eat something that was unlawful to eat. We don't know whether David and his men were starving or just hungry, however, Jesus highlighted the fact that he did this and put it in a positive light. Notice what he said in vs. 27(nwt): "The sabbath came into existence for the sake of man, and not man for the sake of the sabbath." In other words, Jehovah put the laws in place for the good of man and not for the purpose of man just having to obey a ton of random laws. David understood this principle.

Don't you think this highlights for us the importance of why laws and commands are set out for us to begin with? For example, we obey the laws as put forth by the government (as long as it does not break Jehovah's law). If we were at a red light, and we saw someone old walking with a cane fall and then we saw a car that was heading straight for this older person, would we not run the red light so as to try to save this person (given the idea that we thought we could save this person) and thus be disobeying a law as set forth?

Wouldn't the same hold true for us especially in view of the fact that Jesus did say that David broke a law and then put him in a positive light according to the scriptures? Wouldn't we be in conjunction with the scriptures if we felt that our conscious could allow us to take blood in a life or death matter in view of the sanctity of life?

    >>since the Bilble says to treat the blood of an animal with respect,

How is "respect" defined in the Bible? I know there is a specific prohibition against eating it. What other actions are listed as "respectful" and "not respectful"?

You know, it would be so much easier if it had been written clearly in the first place:

Leviticus 17:11 says "the life of a creature is in the - four major components of - blood." Also we read; "He shall pour out its - four major components of - blood and cover it with earth. . . . You shall not partake of the - four major components of - blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its - four major components of - blood. Anyone who partakes of - one or more of these four major components of blood - shall be cut off."— Leviticus 17:13,14.

Really then, wouldn't THAT be so much easier to understand?

    knock knock,

Maybe it will mention the "4 components" of blood in Leviticus in a revised NWT. New light on the way.

    Aleman:

You assert the “Bible says to treat the blood of an animal with respect”. You have yet to show this from the Bible.

Noah could kill animals and use the blood to feed his pigs, and he could do this without violating the directive for him not to eat the blood of the animal he killed for food. So what exactly is it about feeding blood to pigs that is respectful?
