There are ALWAYS babies, no matter how long God waits, who are going to be killed because their parents are (allegedly) asses - and this is LOVING? Please. God's a freaking sociopathic killer

    Berylblue,

First of all, I realize that as ex-jws we've been indoctrinated with certain phobias and views that are not grounded in either reality or common sense. It has taken me many, many years to try and remove some of this stuff, as I suspect is the same with most characters here.

I want to refute some of your views here. But it in no way is a condemnation of you as a person.

The WT has a very carnal view of life and death that is virtually identical to an atheistic worldview in many ways. The WT made us morbidly focus on a God killing 99.9% of the population. This over magnification of a sligthly pre-mature death, hid the actual reality that we all die anyway. It is even comical to me now when I look back at my previous WT. views.

As a side note, the battle of Armageddon is a military campaign and is not waged against the general public. The WT view deceptively puts God in the position of death bringer. However, the reality is that death is assured whether God exists or not. Whether God brings about death sooner than later is of no importance in the overall reality of things. We are subjected to assured destruction because we all have a 100% liklihood of sinning.

The 2nd law of thermodynamics says that all systems tend to degrade over time. If we are to have life indeed, then divine internention is needed. It is our 100% propensity to sin that separates us from him and prevents this divine intervention of our own demise.

In other words, atheists and Jehovah's Witnesses maintain that current momentary life is LIFE INDEED. Further, the extinguishing of that momentary life is DEATH INDEED. The bible maintains just the opposite on both counts.

perry: I'm curious, what kind of authority, if any, do you personally accept as legitimate?

Those who can punish me....for sure....like cops, and IRS. What do you mean by legitiamate authority? A moral auithority? If so, I am flying by the seat of my pants right now. As far as the bible goes, I can accept the good and reasonable, and trash the hell out of the bad and insane, and not feel the least bit guilty about it. Medication will be needed for those trying to accept that all Gods ways (in the Bible) as soooo pure and good. As I said, some postions are indefensible.

berylblue: God's a freaking sociopathic killer. On his good days.

Whoa there beryl....or are you still there....wouldn't God have smited you with a lightning bolt by now? or a flood? or fire from heaven? LMAO..........and yeah, dont make him angry! Why would he care a twit about anything we did enough to get angry anway? You probably just really yanked his chain though! ........oompa

He hasn't and he won't. If there is a God, he should understand why a mere human such as myself would be hurt, angry and confused when I read of (ostensibly) God-approved mass murder. He'd expect us to get pissed off and upset by Jonestown-like stuff - but not at murdering little boys and babies? Please.

None of it makes any sense. None whatsoever. I didn't accept this stuff when I was a JW and I refuse to now. At least NOW I can speak my mind; you'd better believe that when I was a JW I kept it shut.

    Excellent topic Oompa,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Enjoyed it. Here's a more in depth discussion of the social-economic backdrop of the Ancient Near East (ANE) and the laws in the bible that were designed to protect women.

Women would not have had to be protected HAD MEN NOT REGARDED THEM AS PROPERTY - which, apparently, was AOK with Jehovah. Jehovah does not and never has appeared to care much for women. I used to think, "If you hate us so much and think we're so weak and inferior, why did you create us?"
Now I no longer care what he thinks.
