I have another one that needs to be asked--Why does America contribute more money and food to international organizations than any other country, and is currently begging a country ruled by a military junta(Burma) to ACCEPT aid for it's people in a time of great distress? Up until Pearl Harbor the US was playing both sides. They were secretly aiding China while selling oil to Japan. When Japan started winning the US stopped supplying oil to even the field up. The Japanese took this to mean the US was going to come to China's aid after all.

Yes it is but a necessary evil. Not that one can say that the bombing of Iraq is necessary that is not the point. But one has to look at the whole picture. Bombings and imperialism is necessary for the survival of the US. Has to be top dog or wind up with scraps.

I suppose people would be singing a diffrent tune if they were living on their knees then they would want freedom at any cost.

Pretty much the US didn't care who won as long as they bought weapons, oil, and steel. Same with Stalin, and Hitler only when the Japanese finally attacked and the Germans bit off more than they could chew did the US get in to WW2 on the allies side. Even then there was a call in the public to just attack Japan and not get involved in another war in Europe.

How do your kids feel about the Germans bombing the Spanish, Poles, French and Russians before the United States bombed anybody? Or the Japanese bombing the Chinese? Palestinian rockets being shot into Israel? Or for that matter, the British bombing the Germans? Only the historically ignorant think we're the only ones bombing people. Not attempt to justify anything, or bash other people. Just points to bring up if you actually want to talk to your kids about this.
