You know how JW's say that church's teach hell fire and how that is so cruel? I never met a church goer or non church goer...even if they believed in hell...didn't think THEY were going.

I was always afraid I was going to die at Armd. I was always afraid of greiving the holy spirit. I was always afraid of doing something or not doing something that was wrong my jehovah's/wt standards.

I had a funny row with my mom over this tonight on the telephone.

She asked what it was going to take to get me back in.....I said, I am never coming back..... to any religion. She quoted all the typical society stuff going back to the old Testamnet.....and I pointed out thats why Christ came...so stop quoting the old Testament....then she started quoting the new testament and I went back to the old testament....just like the JW's do.

She had to drop it. What a great feeling to get a die hard JW...to drop it, based on their own tactics.

I definitely remember the 6000 yr creation timetable, carbon dating wrong, etc. In fact, I guess I didn't realize it had dropped off the radar. I always thought it was still around as a teaching.

Confusing, as in makes my eyes go fuzzy and I quit listening? Dinosaurs, definitely. Never did figure out what was "official" teaching on dinosaurs.

Any sentence beginning with 607 BCE and ending in 1914. Any timetable calculations.

Figured if I was ever up against the blood issue, I'd let some elders come in and tell me what's what. Anything that might be a "conscience matter", my conscience already decided to accept. Because how can something be "wrong" if it's not "forbidden"? So "not forbidden" = "fine by me!" in my book.

My eyes also went fuzzy at any mention of Cedar Point Ohio, or any suggestion that the Holy Bible, that revered God-inspired book that lasted through the millennia and people through the ages died for, somehow prophesied a district assembly in the good old US of A.

The idea that "Crickets" (or locusts, or whatever creepy insects) of Revelation would equal "Magazines".

Yet there is one roaming the coversheets of the green NWT: must be like Satan, roaming to and fro about the earth

The thing with Lot's daughters always bother me too. One thing I always struggled with when I was in is the dress code and the constant judging of ones appearances. I would ask how come they would put so much importance on this when Jesus never even once mention it, actually the only time he mention appearances was how we humans judge each other on it and that we should not. Anny way now I know why the JW insist on it, mind control.

    There is the OT/NT disparity.

And OTWO reports something in another thread that makes Revelation and the rest of the NT look like oil and water:

Purps, confusion sets in because Jesus never mentioned Armageddon. He talked about great tribulation. Revelation adds that Armageddon spin to it, so it ain't going to be consistent throughout Christianity (like anything is).

Question pops out of that is: how do we know Jesus was a horseman of Revelation?

The whole scenario makes me wonder about the Catholics picking and choosing the canon that they wanted and then WTS buys that hook, line and sinker; but Russell and Rutherford usually wanted to put another nail in the Pope's coffin: go figure???

Asexually, I didn't too much worry about such while I was in: I was too busy surviving, keeping my mouth shut and smiling, and shining them on.

I sorted this stuff out after leaving.

I never could understand how the Faithful and Discrete Slave could be guided by God's holy spirit and yet get things so horrible wrong and then say that they are human. Duh, we knew that, so what? Guided indicates that he directs you yet they weren't yielding to God's spirit when they got it wrong? Then why wasn't Jehovah pissed that they weren't responding correctly? Or for that matter, if they had disregarded his spirit why didn't he can them like he did Christendom? I hate these suckas! I never understood how the Annointed fit in to the whole thing. The only ones I remember partaking of the emblems, were old old people that didn't even play an active part in the meetings. Not pioneers, not elders, nothings. The ones I would try to sneak a peak at partaking, didn't even give talks or go in field service.

One thing I heard from the platform is that, unless you are spending every second of your time out in field circus and then doing all you could (and then some) to reach as many people as possible and get them into the cancer, you are "stealing the word of God". Which doesn't make sense because I never stole any Bibles from those householders. And that is what stealing the Word of God would amount to (and I never claimed the Bible as my workmanship, either).
