  Hey if i had gun most of my friends would run for cover! Whereas when i use a knife they know they have a chance.

  Guns are often lethal. that is their purpose as you so honestly say. I understand that in that in the US a number of people are killed accidentally with guns, even as Micheal Moore's clip shows. sadly these are often children, that does seem a high price to pay for such freedoms.

  If your police officers, who are highly trained make mistakes, what chance that a citizen with much less training not to make mistakes?

  BTW i only use a knife for culinary purposes, so the UK is a safer place!

  I've never known any kids shot, and I live in a highly gun populated area. I have, however, known a 10 year old neighbor kid that accientally hung himself playing with a jump rope. Go figure.

  If the argument is that most tools can kill, it could be pointed out that most tools aren't designed to kill, but a gun is. Equating one with the other in the context of one being no better or worse for the task is logically incorrect. Guns are designed to kill and have that one purpose. The others are designed for other purposes.

  It is true that it's the person, not the tool that kills and I can't argue that.

  But the morals of a person do not make a gun any more useful as a tool for anything other than what it's designed for.

  Just an opinion and exercise in thought. Carry on,.....:)
