How Should We Deal With "Pirates"?

"Without regard to the safety of any hostages" is actually what you wrote. I believe that is inhumane. Like I said, I'd like to see your feeling if your family or better yet YOU were a hostage. Do you think you could be so mindlessly objective?

I'll give you that "without regard" is probably too strong. What I mean is that taking the pirates out should be the number one consideration with the regard for hostage safety number two. When this is followed, you better believe it will protect americans because no one will take american hostages. Furthermore, if you're busy scrambling to save your own life, you aren't going to take the time to kill the hostages. I realize that may be hard for you to swallow, but it is the cold truth. Acts of war are never pretty, and they require decisive leadership with clear objectives and tough decisions. Once you allow your enemy to control your actions, you've already lost.

And this can all be done within your timetable of 24 hours? Vascillate some more.

Oh come on now. My timetable is what's absurd? Fine. Give them 48, 72, 128 hours. Makes no difference. The point is, any time is a grace period given on our perrogative with no allowance for negotiations.

You're changing your tune. I guess you can see how absurd it sounds now. Good.

I am not changing my tune. You missed my point originally. Negotiations and ransoms should never occur. Pirates should be exterminated. Always, even if that results in the pirates harming hostages.

You've changed positions from your original statement.

If I was to be a hostage of course I would want the authorities to do all they can to save me (or a member of my family) but I think the main objective would be to take the bad guys out. If you negotiate with pirates they will keep on using the method that works ( like a kid throwing a fit, if you give in they will keep using that method) but if you kill them (the pirates) you send a message to the rest. If I would die in the process well I would rather it be because the pirate got eliminated instead of them getting what they want and then killing me any ways or taking more hostages.

3 out of 4 of the pirates are dead and the Captain is free!

First you hear that toxic waste is being dumped, yet at the same time we are told that it is a fight over fish.

    My question is this:

If the waters are toxic and polluted, why is anyone fishing there?

Where is this fish being transported?

How safe is the fish that humans are eating?
