    w0412/15p.10FriendsofGodinthe“FriendlyIslands” (family needs take precedance)

Although poor materially, this man and his wife used to make a sizable financial contribution when their names were called out at church during an annual fund-raising service. A Witness who had previously visited had invited the husband to open his Bible and read1 Timothy 5:8. The apostle Paul wrote: “If anyone does not provide for those who are his own, and especially for those who are members of his household, he has disowned the faith and is worse than a person without faith.” This Bible principle touched the husband’s heart. He realized that by acceding to the church’s excessive demands, he was failing to provide the basic needs of his family. At the next annual collection service, although he had the money in his pocket, he could not forget 1 Timothy 5:8. When his name was called out, he courageously informed the priest that his family’s needs took precedence. As a result, the couple was publicly belittled and berated by the church elders.

***w075/1p.21par.9DoNotPutApartWhatGodHasYokedTogether ***But having weighty congregation responsibilities does not mean that a husband should neglect fulfilling his God-given obligations as a family head. (1 Timothy 3:5, 12) Commenting on this matter, some years ago this journal made the following statement: “In accordance with Biblical requirements, it can be said that ‘shepherding begins at home.’ If an elder neglects his family, he could jeopardize his appointment.” Clearly, it is imperative that you provide for your wife—physically, emotionally and, most important of all, spiritually.

Translation : Your wife is married to Jehovah / WT society, not you.

Would a DF'd wife be entitled to alimony/severence from the FDS?

Catholic nuns wear wedding rings to signify their marriage to God. So I guess WT and Catholic church may have similarities in that all baptized women are married to God now.

Reniaa, if you're back would you mind answering my question about whether you, as a JW, feel you should follow and obey Jesus. Remember, you likened Jesus to a cult leader to defend the WTBTS's Governing Body.

    Thanks so much.

RESTRANGLED- It is sick that old farts like 80 to 90 year olds are making sexual legislative decisions for JW's. It is such a patriarchal " man's club " type organization which puts very little value on women and children. And this latest information just shows how controlling this patriarchal man's club wants to be towards women - actually wanting their devotion over the devotion to their husbands ! I'm sorry you had to see and observe it first hand in your parents witness home growing up - but it certainly turned your mind towards walking away from it , didn't it ? So that's a good thing. You have your freedom.

TRUTHSETSONEFREE- I hear what you're saying. My ex-wife, a fanatic witness took me to the elders for various alleged sins, like finding me masturbating, watching R rated movies, listening to Led Zeppelin , the list goes on and on. Ratfinkism is alive and well in the JW cult and the GB actually WANTS couples to rat each other out to the elders. That way the WT society can control their personal lives even more .

STILL in 74 - I bet if that man you discussed in the other religion became a witness and made sizeable contributions to the WT society instead of his former church he would not have been hassled that he was " acceding to the church's excessive demands , and failing to provide for the basic needs of his family . " In the witnesses this guy donating tons of money to the WT society would be appointed elder or made a new member of the governing body very quickly ! LOL.

PASSWORD PROTECTED- Reniaa is probably getting cult mind controlled information drilled into her mind at some spiritual hospital right now or something. It's why she doesn't answer you- she's detained. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Funny how one of those WT Pubs quotes mentions an elder must provide for his wife in all ways. Even when they try to sound like they are on the woman's side they are condescending. Why does a woman need providing for? How about just being partners, friends, equals even? This is one of the main reasons I give my daughter as to why I never want her to become a dub. This religion has little respect for what women are and can be. They insist that they be subservient to any male that happens to be passing by. Remember even Jehovah is their heavenly "Father".

TRUTHSETSONEFREE- The WT society truly is a patriarchal organization which fosters male chauvinism towards women. It's sickening. I also pity my 2 daughters 22 and 20 being married in the JW cult as I'm sure their JW husbands definitely feel like their " heads " or " authority figure ". I agree that marriages work better when two people view each other as equal partners in decision making, and are friends on an equal plain as well. No woman should ever be limited or controlled as to what they can accomplish. Only mind control cults limit women

From my own experience a husband wanted (by local elders)on the RBC, is more important than the wife/ marriage or children. It was suggested I could seek a divorce and have the full support of the congregation ,if I felt his giving his time to the RBC was causing me to suffer spiritually. This was the deciding moment for me that my family & I were not in the truth. I had naively thought they would not allow him to serve, if they knew he was neglecting his family.

BLITHE FRESHMAN- It is incredibly awful that this mind control cult offered you the option of divorce just so your husband could stay busy for the nedds of the regional building committee. Insane actually. I'm sure it was an extreme insult to you and a real eye opener to see how little the Jehovah's Witness cult valued families and marriages. I hope you have moved on and are healing friend. Take care
