Did You/ Do You Believe Marriages Are Supposed To Be Forever?

Nice idea in theory. However, the realities of day-to-day living tend to intrude on such wishful thinking.

"Love is suspicious, love is needy, love is selfish, love is greedy." - Bender Bending Rodriguez

When you stop thinking in ideals, and really examine the core phycological drives, motivations, and constructs behind any relationship.. (with the exception of the instinctual mother/child bond), you can usually find a selfish motivation on both end.

To play marriage up as some sort of ideal is a crock. Marriage is a form of legal ownership. It's security. It's not having to work for the attention of the potential mate each day. It may work for some people, but not for most.

There is no single lifestyle or relationship that works for everyone. One size never fits all.

Ideally marriage for humans is a lifelong parnership, or at least enough to bring up the children to independance.

"Cheating" is seen in so many mammalian social animals - meerkats, babboons, gorillas, it is apparently a way of ensuring that the gene pool gets unpredictable mixes.

Among the meerkat, ther are "rogue males" who do not fit in socially and are thrown out of the community.

They wander around between colonies and the dominant females are on the lookout. She will often signal if she is receptive and go off for a little bit of wiggle wiggle bang bang, without the dominant male ( her mate ) ever knowing.

It is a natural mechanism for ensuring groups do not get too inbred.

A similar tendency is found in humans. How often have you been away on holiday and found the people of another country or race far more sexy than the folks back home?

Why do you think that many witlesses find the one they will celebrate losing their virginity with at DC conventions more often than at the kINGDUMB hELL

I once vowed to serve Jehovah forever. Am I ever glad I broke THAT vow.

Vows that one makes when very young (and usually foolish) are sometimes impossible to keep.

Then there are the vows that must be broken because of a (previously unsuspected) abusive or criminal spouse.

"Vows are to be kept, whatever the vow" -- works in theory; not so much in real life.

I vowed also to serve Jehovah, then found out it was the WT
I really think I have kept that vow,They told me I had to advertise!

what the WT is....I have cards printed up to help me to do just that.

My LIFE is dedecated to talking about the WT.....So my vow I keep!!!!
Unfortunatly the WT isnt so happy about it...But I was trained VERY WELL

Not just marriage, but ANY promise.

We should leave the wt organization, but we should not leave our morals behind.
