I was a homeschooled JW and was academically years ahead of my "worldly" peers... spelling was never a problem. Grammar were my problem.
Have you noticed that JW's who've been "raised in the truth" are crappy spellers?

Not at all. But ironically, in my 35 years as a JW I never spotted a single spelling error in any JW publication.

I love how just about anything triggers the Miss Jones "stereotype" crying knee-jerk reaction lol

What? The thread title was completely stereotypical. It was not a knee jerk reaction for God's sake.

JWs are an American-originated religion and Americans are terrible spellers. Therefore, JWs are terrible spellers.
BTW, in defence (British spelling) of the Watchtower Society: My lovely mother had all her children reading Awake! magazines before they started school; I always attributed our early exposure to the printed word with making my siblings and I very good spellers and, because the magazines were printed in Australia, we were not exposed to American spelling...so that was a bonus. However, I cannot speak for more recent generations of JWs...Judging by the proliferation of American spelling on the internet, I would guess that "the Queen's English" is doomed.

Pretty sweeping generalization you put forth there.
I actually spell pretty well. My typing sometimes leaves something to be desired but my spelling, grammar and punctuation is generally spot on.
Raised in the 'truth', I was encouraged to do well in grade school and high school as I would not be permitted to attend college. I was encouraged to be a good student.

I too have noticed that the WT and Awake mags do not have spelling errors. How do they manage that?
St. Ann who is a very, very good speller and resents any implication to the contrary.
