Here you are drew-that kind of religiousness has been going on for thousands of years

    Mark 7:7-9 (New International Version)

    7 They worship me in vain;
their teachings are but rules taught by men.' 8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."

9 And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!

    All the best,

    Stephen

So I'm guessing that a Protestant Bible (or any Bible for that matter) isn't tradition?

All Christian denominations/theologies depend upon traditions in one way or another. Without them the basic structures necessary for the faith would cease to be.

One tradition that most Christians believe, including JWs, is that Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible. He didn't.

Exactly. Another one I can think of is the authorship of Hebrews, which tradition (and JWs) hold as being Paul, but most likely isn't. Believing that the books selected to be a part of the official Christian scriptures is a tradition. There is even the issue of what books go into the Bible.

thanks RENIAA for pointing out that jw`s are always right...it must be wonderful to belong to such a wonderful flawless org, and that although the people who make up the congregation are imperfect, the faithful slave is never wrong, it maybe alittle over eager at times, but only because it so despartely wants to see this wicked system of things end. simple question finding "god" or the "truth" shouldnt be about quoteing endless scripture and debating it, it should be simple, because surely "IF" there is a god, dosent he want to be found?.

reading your waffle just makes me so happy that i left the jw`s many years ago, oh and arrmaggedon was just round the corner then....about twenty years ago. look darling get a life, becuase its to short, and most of the people on this site want you to have one.

A few posters have used the H word, kind of funny and interesting. Heresy according to whom. It seems some have just walked out of one door filled with angst and superstition only to enter some other Church or Ideology filled with equal angst and superstition.

To turn around and become a Fundamentalist, Evangelical or Baptist, to accept the idea of Hell, you would think people would be to embarrassed to admit such things or that they were that guillible..

    Its a Therapist's cornucopia.

    Hi designs,

Its interesting-I just watched this and it talked about "heresy" quite a bit.

    doctrine-from-false-teachers-part-1

There are different definitions for the word but I always have taken it to mean false teaching and preaching which goes clearly against the bible.

Here's an example. I might have used this already once of twice in this thread. JWs believe Jesus was not raised in a physical body, but as a non physical "spirit creature". Now read what the scripture says regarding that.

    Luke 24:39 (English Standard Version)

39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have."

Clearly, the WT teaching and JW beliefs contravene the bible and the words of Jesus Himself. I define that as heresy.

The bible itself is the first test for any teaching from it. The WT fail in many core teachings in similar dismal fashion.

    As Paul says

    Romans 3:4 (New International Version)

4 Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written:
"So that you may be proved right when you speak
    and prevail when you judge."

    All the best,

    Stephen

    Chalam,

Thought you probably went Fundamentalist. And yet you see that God must be the decider, so why all the angst. If a person chose to stay with a particular belief system, and different from your interpretation, a kind Supreme Being will straighten it all out in paradise.

Take care, of yourself your family and this earth- W. Berry
