I keep on telling you guys:
they tell us not to trust the world, but they do! they have lost billions in the stock market crash

Scarred for life
I think they've lost a ton of money in the stock market crash also. Plus, all their real estate holdings have plummetted in value also. And I am certain that their monthly donations are way, way down.
Theyre hurting big time.

They may be hurting big time.....but...they will continue to exist.
Though it may not appear that way to the normal member, there is no doubt a lot of downsizing that has gone on, reduced numbers of folks at Bethel, relocation of presses, soft covered books, reductions in publications.
I think the key though is the power trip that the GB (or for that matter any of the MEN who are in positions of authority) is on and I think each of them would rather have dominion over a smaller empire than to risk losing the total empire.
One of the previous threads on this site mentioned the possibility of the organization becoming even a bit more fanatical. I can see that, start to increase the pressure for conformance on the members and really get yourself down to a smaller number of really zealous JWs than the larger number they presently have who just seem to be along for the ride.

There does seem to be a 'frantic mania' there at the top. Their rank & file members are totally unaware though. Their leaders are not creative there to adjust financially without only burdening their members more. For years the arrogant GB were only building up materially, even having constant tours of their grand buildings and printing, though preaching the 'end.' It is nice to see them finally reaping what they have been sowing all these years.

Interesting premise from Metatron.
Something along the lines I have been thinking. No matter how much we can prove JW doctrine and teachings wrong, there will always be a hardcore who will believe no matter what. Unless that is the WT itself starts to change its beliefs to closer to orthodox Christianity. Then again there be would some hardliners, maybe a breakaway organisation.
But I have always thought that their demise would come through mainly external problems, mainly economic, through lower contributions, higher costs, maybe even taxation in the future.
They spent millions on Patterson, at a time they were expecting a period of great growth. I recall how we felt that such a wonderful place was being built. No talk about cutting back then, on printing back or laying Bethel staff off.
They just may as suggested maybe stop printing the Awake , and cut back on CO costs , visit congregations once a year instead of twice?
Other problems like the paedophile issue, already said to have cost them millions. How many more in the future will take them to court? They have over the years been whittling the blood doctrine down, probably end up as a "conscience matter". They cannot outright drop the blood doctrine. Think of the effect that would have on families were members have died because of it. If you have had a parent/husband/wife/child die because you kept the "no blood" doctrine. Then the WT turn round and say "New light - you can have a blood transfusion" you would either try to sue, or walk away from the organisation.
As Metatron says is it "unthinkable" ? Those of us who have been JWs have seen changes that when we were in, would thought "unthinkable.
What about disillusionment among JWs? Many older ones have been waiting for years for "the end" they went through the 1975 thing. They see the juggling with "generation" teaching, the numbers of the "anointed" increasing. I have heard of JWs who when I was with them you would have said were "strong spiritual" brothers, Elders even, that they would be there at "the end". But they have left, a couple of them over the paedophile issue, the others over had just had enough or learnt about the lies and deciet of the WT.
The younger ones , well the ones I've come across, seem to be a bit ambivalent about it all. Many of those who are my childrens ages 20-30 yrs old, and we know, all have practically left. I have met others in the local pub ( bar - for American readers) out for a night on the town. The sisters dressed in a way that would have had them in front of the Elders in my day. Met them either in groups of 4 or 6 out for the night at a weekend. I'm sure that a bit of "loose conduct" goes on as well. The ones I have spoken, say they don't believe all the teachings etc, that they are doing to keep parents happy. I have been told things about what some young JWs have got up to and even I have been shocked.
Well Ihave rambled on enough, trying to get all that I feel into a short posting.
But as many other on JWN and other forums have said , there is something definitely not right with the Watchtower organisation. One of those things you just can't put your finger on it but there is something there.

I love the title of this thread, and I really hope it happens. Interesting points. ( <---- ah crap, that's one of those overused JW expressions. Hard to overcome)
WHY though, if they are hurting financially would they print a whole new somg book. Seems there is tons of inventory of the old version, money down the drain. Maybe the new one is smaller, so cost projection for the next 5 years, maybe, I don't know.
