Would you NOT hire a JW because they're a JW?

I have several witnesses who work for me, they are the least productive of any in the group. I 'had' two Evangelicals work for me last year who were dishonest and stole thousands, and still in hiding trying to avoid being served Court papers.

Its kind of like Diogenes trying to find diligent dedicated workers.

No, too many stories of how dishonest they are as a whole, take advantage whenever possible and then justify, self pious superior attitude, lack of true commaraderie would hurt the business in the long run, their redefinition of the word lie - I could never trust a jw... etc..etc..etc...

I have had some bad experiences with JW people, a plumber who has left my cistern to leak and damaged the downpipe into the drain. I've had good experiences of top tradesmen who knew what they were doing and did a great job but were pricey.

I've had JWs who lied to try to get me to work for them for peanuts telling me that money wasn't the most important thing in life. My response was if you want the skills you have to pay for them, this is a business transaction not a school assignment.

If I had the choice I would use whoever was the most skilled person for the job who offered the best value for money, witness or non witness. On the other side I would never work for a witness again.

I have one working for me and I have no issues with him. Every now and then he tries to "rescue" me by trying to convince me to return to the fold, but I just give him something to reason on and he shuffles away. He is a good worker and does not seem to be too fanatical in his beliefs.

I worked for some JWs who had a policy of not hiring "worldly" people. It was rare that they even hired someone who wasn't a pioneerâ„¢.

If they can discriminate on the basis of religion than so can I.

I asked a JW to do some work on a home that I was in charge of. Just a small job and he lived right by the house. He told me to take pictures of the house and email them to him.

How lazy and stupid was that. No I would never hire them. The ones I know are lazy and do not want to work. Sorry but they just keep thing the systems end is near and why work hard in a world that is going down.

My experience in hiring JW's for office work was not good, and I told myself I would not hire any JW's knowingly ever again. There was a sense of "entitlement" and superiority over other coworkers I found troubling and offensive. I was not on the same page at all in their attitude of others, and now that I think about it, they had a poor overall work ethic. That is not to say every JW would be that way, because I was one and I had a good work ethic, but generally speaking, base on my experience I would not hire a JW.

I'm starting up a business and I'd hire them. The type of work it would be involved I can't see any problems in hiring them. Though I find that ex-JWs seem to work harder and are genuinely happier in the workplace.

While we were still JW's, my husband and I both made the decision to not hire dubs ever again.

They have been convinced by the society that a JW employee is the best employee any emplorer could ever wish for.

They have the attitude that all other employees lie, cheat and steal, but not them, they are honest, the only honest employees on the face of the earth, just listen at any assembly and you will hear story after story about how worldly people just love hiring JW's cause they are the only good employees.

And they think thats all they need, they think that just being a JW is enough to make any employer salivate.

In the absence of anti-discrimination laws, it is unwise to hire a witless if the job requires decision making skills, or if it is more important that they show up for work than for a Grand Boasting Session. The witlesses are better suited for maintenance--floor crews, physical construction where everything they do is what their foreman tells them to, and washing dishes. If they should turn apostate, they would be better at making critical decisions and more likely to be willing to work through those Grand Boasting Sessions in exchange for taking other time off.

And, they would be less likely to create problems with the holidays after turning apostate. You hire an active witless that believes in it, and there is going to be a problem. Play any Christmas music, and they are going to get headaches. If you play any "bad" songs, they are uncomfortable. Put up any holiday decorations in their work area, and you are going to be hounded to take them down before the holiday even gets here. Plus, they are not going to be able to handle setting up the decorations or doing anything toward celebrating. Some will not even be able to clean up after the holidays (such as taking down the decorations)--others will simply destroy the decorations instead of putting them away.
