One of these is Revelation 19:1 that mentions a "great crowd" "in heaven." The only time it is ever brought up it is dismissed.

Funny you mention this one I brought it up to my wife during an argument, she told me the great crowd was the 144,000 ... when I told her that the watchtower calls the great crowd the non-144,000 who are suppose to be on "Paradise Earth" she told me I didn't know what I was talking about and repeated that the great crowd was the 144,000...

    Yeeesh....

MAD JW and anyone else interested.

I Am is how God answered Moses when he asked 'who should I say told me these things' God asnwered 'tell them I am sent you' Sorry if that doesn't fly with you, but that's what scripture says....speaking of scripture, here's another that Watchtower adherents will ignore. This is strait from the NWT

IS 9: 6 For there has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us; and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

This is speaking of Jesus, right?

The WT answers scriptures like Isaiah 9:6 rarely, and when they do it is usually in some format like this:

"In what sense is the Messianic King Jesus Christ to be considered "Mighty God, Eternal Father?" While Jehovah is the only one who can rightfully be called Almighty God, his Son is indeed the mightiest being in all creation. He acts as an "Eternal Father" toward the subjects of Jehovah's Kingdom as he guides them to perfection and an everlasting relationship with Jehovah."

I just made that up but the point is that they have the same M.O. with all these sorts of things. They start out implying that the words do NOT mean what they say, the sense of them is somehow different from the dictionary meaning (kind of like 'generation'). They then subtly remind their readers that the official doctrine is that God and his Son are different, the son being a creation subordinate to the Father (and you had better accept it!). And then, the "Eternal Father" phrase is defined as some sort of behavior or act, and not a title or description at all.

It's all a big exercise in twisting the clear meaning of words and phrases. We've seen great evidence of the loony and fallacious WT mindset in this thread.

Too bad you churchoids have been so thouroughly dumbed-down by your churches.

Jesus did NOT say "I AM"- his God did- ONLY once.

NO translation goes so far to translate Isa 9:6- as ALmighty God- for anyone looking at the Hebrew knows "el gibor" ( "mighty god" ) was applied to several mighty WARRIORS- and THAT is what the term REALLY means- mighty Warrior or "mighty god'- capturing a man being almost godlike in a certain aspect!

See? I told you so. The JW knows what the words REALLY mean. The words don't mean what they mean, they mean what the JW SAYS they mean. "Mighty God" doesn't mean Mighty God, it means a mighty warrior who is almost godlike in that certain aspect. Deep scriptural stuff there; should have been wearing boots.

I forgot that an ad hominem would probably be included, too. My bad on that.

You're doing a great work here, MadJW. Please keep it up.

    Here's another one: 1John 2: 20, 21, 26, 27

    From AGuest in another thread.

Rev 18:7- Give her as much torment and grief as the glory and luxury she gave herself.
In her heart she boasts, 'I sit enthroned as queen.
    >>>I am <<<<<< [let's CAP this, as translators did with John 8:58!]

I AM not a widow;I will never mourn.'

The SAME GREEK TERM as in John 8 :58 ( there are many others)- and there are NO CAPS in the Koine Greek. So, windbag, is Babylon the Great ALSO God?

MJW: BTW, did GOD ever speak with the voice of Archangel?

    1Thes 4:16 NWT
For the Lord*(make sure you check foot note) Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, and with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

    *Jehovah

Remember the old Roger's and Hammerstien's Cinderella (Played by Leslie Ann Warren) When the king and the queen and later cinderella herself, entered the ballroom with the trumpets and the shout of the announcer. You sure knew someone important was arriving. Love that movie.

Here are a few more ignored ones from a thread back in 2002

    Rev 1:17-18
.."Do not be afraid, I am the first and the last,
18 and the living One; and I was dead and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of hades.

    Rev 22:12-13
"Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. 13 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."

Check WT history to find out who they say is coming. depending on the president at the time - Jesus, Jehovah, Jesus, Jehovah. Proves they as an organization do NOT know who God is any more than most - and are in no positon to boast that they do. Old light, new light, zig zag course. Books, books and more books - never coming to an understanding.

New light aside, Its one thing to get some minor players wrong when starting a new religion but OMG shouldn't the main characters be in place?Guess that's what happens when you must fit the bible to your own interpretations.

    food for thought this thread

WP, if one cannot understand the basics, they have no CHANCE with Revelation- as you illustrate so well!

Why change the subject being discussed? The LORD referred to there is God's SON, NOT the Father...
