Woods, how do we "secure" the border? I just keep thinking about a huge fence

That is a start. It also obviously takes manpower.

It is possible - the Israelis have proven that with the Palestinians.

The fence is a fed thing and it has been started...just not finished. If the feds would finish the fence it would help...that's why I understand why AZ feels the need to take drastic measures...they can't count on DC to do anything.

A fence seems like trying to hold water in your hands.

Ahhh I see, so we need guard towers and tanks and.......................

No, forcing people to show an ID to vote is RACIST (they tell me). All we do is show up, give the name of a registered voter (who may or may not be ALIVE) and then vote. This is why politicians tell their supporters to "vote early and vote often", here in the Magnolia State.

    That's just goofy LWT.

Pullover LWT, your tail light is out, no wait, you were speeding, actually you ran a red light, you were swerving...............

So, an abusive cop could make an illegitimate stop? Is there anything to prevent that now?

Here in Texas, police will manufacture "legitimate" reasons to stop people, particularly if you're d.w.b. 5 heads deep in a slammed late model buick in the wrong neighborhood.

What's goofy? My commentary or the political reality, here? Or both?

The fence they started is good enough to keep most people out... if only they'd finish it.

They already have a border patrol. Vastly under manned and under funded.

I'd rather see guard towers and constant vigilence on a fenced border instead of the law proposed. If you try messing with the fence and you get shot...tough shit.

Mexico welcomes only foreigners who will be useful to Mexican society:

    * Foreigners are admitted into Mexico "according to their possibilities of contributing to national progress." (Article 32)
    * Immigration officials must "ensure" that "immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance" and for their dependents. (Article 34)
    * Foreigners may be barred from the country if their presence upsets "the equilibrium of the national demographics," when foreigners are deemed detrimental to "economic or national interests," when they do not behave like good citizens in their own country, when they have broken Mexican laws, and when "they are not found to be physically or mentally healthy." (Article 37)
    * The Secretary of Governance may "suspend or prohibit the admission of foreigners when he determines it to be in the national interest." (Article 38)*
*Foreigners with fake papers, or who enter the country under false pretenses, may be imprisoned:
    * Foreigners with fake immigration papers may be fined or imprisoned. (Article 116)
    * Foreigners who sign government documents "with a signature that is false or different from that which he normally uses" are subject to fine and imprisonment. (Article 116)

And here is the sweetest headline
