ATJ, You think I'm a rightie?

I'm an independent. I swing both ways.

    Snap out of it, man.

Yeah, I know Robdar, but I am a pragmatic. It happens. Am I happy about it? Doesn't really matter.

Now in a democratic republic, the law in Arizona is a little more troublesome then if some of my posts get censored on a private internet board.

Having said that, my issue is ultimately that the AZ law is bad law, bad policy.

Beks, you should never keep track of all the trouble you get in here. ;)

Robdar, you swing both ways? (that was meant to be a joke, it didn't work...)

Sorry, that was totally uncalled for. I am a liberal independent pragmatic. I have no idea what that makes me, although these days, I typically vote Democrat until given a reason otherwise.

I apologize for calling you a rightie. That was an assumption and I was clearly wrong. Sorry about that.

Oh, I just wonder how unnecessary it is to make illegal aliens more illegal while they're already committing another illegal act?

God, we already have a lot of redundant laws, do we really need this one?

I guess what I'm asking is: Are the present laws so full of loopholes that we need this new so lawyers can find some more in IT?

    Yeah, I sound cynical...bleh.

So, as a liberal you have nothing against censorship but everything against law abiding citizens trying to protect themselves from criminals.

And you wonder why the right and the moderates think you're nuts, my dear man?

I was fully expecting you to go there, ATJ, and that is why I left it there.

Now Rob, is that really what those who oppose this law are opposing? From my point of view, it's strictly the effect on honest individuals that is the problem.

Oh, I meant to address this:

I apologize for calling you a rightie.

Thank you. I would rather be suspected of being a bisexual than a rightie.

So arizona was stolen from the mexicans and now the people who live there are pissed that the mexicans are stealing it back? Isn't that about the long and the short of it?

This law doesn't protect law abiding citizens. It serves to feed a right wing point of view and voting bloc. This law is incorrect and addresses the wrong issues on the immigration issues facing America.

Btw, I am (perhaps surprisingly) a little bit right handed on immigration. Border patrol and walls? No problem. I liked Bush's idea of illegals getting to the back of the line and some kind of amnesty for those who have been here a while.

But I will never be in favor of a law that allows racial profiling.
