beks, unfortanetly I can't think of anything. Goat is very different than lamb in both texture and taste. It's closer to beef than lamb but at the same time it is still quite different than beef.

It is a unique meat :P

Follow-up: This is a meal I will definitely make again - re-heat the rotisserie chicken with lots of fresh rosemary - moist and flavorful. The mushroom barley pilaf was one of those dishes that you keep sneaking spoonsful while you're cleaning up the kitchen - tasty. Mr Bee gave thumbs up on all. Salad was a baby romaine which I've never seen before - tiny, compact very green heads dressed with homemade ranch - using a mix but with low-fat mayo, and a little yogurt and buttermilk - delicious.

Mmmmm, y'all got me in the mood for taco salad!

Gonna make that tomorrow for supper.

Maybe make some mojitos to go with it - my mint in the herb garden is growing like crazy!

Aude, I love jicama - definately keeping your recipe on file, and try it soon!

If you do decide to make this recipe, here are the rest of the ingredients: Little olive oil and lime juice to wilt the onions, salt, cumin, dash of hot pepper sauce, cilantro. Chill for about an hour. YUMMY!! -Aude.

I'd be hungry, but we just ate a little while ago.

    Curried Beef:

(mind you, I don't measure anything)

    rice

3 or 4 potatoes, cut into 1/2 inch chunks

a couple of onions, cut into large pieces

1 or so pounds of beef, cut like the potatoes, pork also works

tomorrow I'll get back in with the peanut sauce recipe.

(this is a great recipe for the third night after you cooked a roast and your tired of just roast)

    garlic

    soy sauce

    curry powder

    flour or corn starch

    oil

start rice in the steamer, I like Jasmine rice

A bit of oil in the wok, add a little garlic

when it gets hot start the potatoes, add the onion after a few minutes

toss in some soy and curry

When these are mostly cooked, remove and set aside.

cook the meat over high heat, add some more curry and soy sauce

when the meat is cooked return the vegatables to the wok and add soy and curry to taste.

If you don't like really hot food be careful with the curry, on the other hand I can't make this too hot for the adult sons.

    serve over rice

I like some nuts, cashews, peanuts are best; wife doesn't, so I throw some on top of my bowl.

I've finally decided my dessert for the 4th of July will be blueberry cherry pie with a lattice top crust so you can see the colorful filling and dollops of real whipped cream on top. That's my red white and blue. I have a plethora of blueberries and cherries so this will help use them up, too. I know some people mentioned cool whip but I'm allergic to soy and cool whip is loaded with it. Plus, I just prefer real whipped cream.

Okay, I want the recipe for Mushroom Barley Pilaf.

Also, a lot of people around here (SW Ohio) are raising Boer Goats and selling the meat. There's a 4-H family up the street that raises meat goats. I'm going to have to see if they have any for sale. I haven't seen it in the stores.

I went to an Indian restaurant yesterday for lunch and they had okra marsala, which contained okra, red bell peppers, and pearl onions. It was delicious! Don't know what else was in it but this restaurant always has fresh made mango ice cream for dessert. Yum, yum.

Last but not least, I did make hamburgers tonight. When I make burgers, I always finely chop an onion and mix it into the hamburger along with a little salt and pepper and copious amounts of Worcestershire sauce. Always makes them tasty.
