19 At these words the Jews were again divided. 20 Many of them said, "He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to him?"

Think About It , it seems you concur with the view of the Jews in verse 20.

There you go twisting people's words and scriptures again. The only thing I agree with here is that you are raving mad. You use scripture of how if Jesus died faithfully his Father would resurrect him and try to twist it that he physically raised himself. The authority and command concerning this came from his Father.

Thinkaboutit: You have accused Stephen of being as brainwashed as JWs. But I only see the attitude in you. You are so sure in your disbelief that you have decided to tear down others instead of argue specifics. Can you argue Mt 26:61 or John 2:19? Will you even bother to look them up? Jesus specifically said that I AM ABLE TO RAISE UP THIS TEMPLE IN THREE DAYS. Who? Jesus. What? The temple. What temple? His body. Jesus raised his own body in 3 days.

If you are going to argue this, Thinkaboutit, then use the scriptures. Or at least use an intelligent argument. Calling someone "numbnutz" does not constitute an intelligent argument.

Thinkaboutit: You have just shown that you do not understand the concept of the soul, but are still trapped in the same views as JWs. You seem to believe in annihilationism. This is a false teaching, according to the bible. Jesus soul did not cease to exist when his body died. So it is not contradictory that he raised his own body to life.

His own body bore the marks of his physical death. Even to the point of proving that he died on a cross and not a stake. For example see John 20:25 to see that more than 1 nail was used to pierce his hands.

If you want to argue with a Christian, thinkaboutit, you are going to have to use the scriptures.

Here's just one scripture. "Because He [God] has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man [Jesus] whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead" (Acts 17:31).

Good grief......I don't even have a bible and have to look this this stuff up via the internet, because you idiots can't remember that God resurrected Jesus.

I do get more enjoyment riding you guys over your ridiculous Jesus/Trinity/Godman love affair.

Funny, thinkaboutit, you just proved the trinity, without meaning to. God raised Jesus. Jesus claimed to raise himself. Wow...

Thinkaboutit: Can you reconcile Acts 17:31 and John 2:19? I am just curious. Please address the facts of the scriptures in your response. I really am interested in your viewpoint.

Dan.........please do not show yourself to be an idiot. You know that scripture is talking about two distinct individuals and that the 3rd person Holy Ghost of the Trinity isn't mentioned.

Can I reconcile Acts 17:31 and John 2:19? I can't believe you can't see this for yourself. I haven't looked into a bible in 15 years, except for these recent Trinity debates and the scriptures are still clear that God his Father raised Jesus from the dead.

Just a quick reference from some Christian denomination called The Good News Magazine gives a commentary on John 2:19 below.

Yet Jesus did say, "Destroy this temple [referring to His body being slain], and in three days I will raise it up [implying His resurrection]" (John 2:19; see verse 21). Jesus did not mean by this that He would come back to life on His own, contradicting the other verses in this regard. Rather, He was referring to the fact that once God the Father made Him alive again in His tomb, He would stand up from where He lay dead—raising Himself from His lying position to then ascend from the grave.

I already provided two scriptures which show the Holy Spirit raised Jesus.

    Romans 8:9-11 (New International Version)

9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

1 Peter 3:18 (English Standard Version)

18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit

    Blessings,

Exactly why did this have to turn into a trinity debate?

  • Chalam

    Because the scriptures say

    • God raised Jesus from the dead
    • Jesus raised Himself from the dead
    • The Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead

    Draw your own conclusions...

    Blessings,

    Stephen
