Hey, if their view is so badly distorted and they can't trust their own judgments then perhaps they should question the wisdom of their decision to join the JW's too?

JUNI- I'm glad your mouth has been cleansed of every " kool-aid " vestige of the past from the WT society ! Good for you. I too hope people will see it for what it is also - mind control sucking information.
CURIOUS BUTTERFLY- Good point you make. Since the GB IS imperfect - their thoughts are just as distorted or limited as the JW members they are telling this to ! It's always amazed me how the WT society so readily points it's fingers at everyone else but themseles when dishing out these diatribes . Crazy stuff

ESSAN- Very good point also. If the typical JW's views are so distorted - how CAN they trust their own judgments of joining the Jehovah's Witnesses ? I had not thought of it that way before- good point

Essan- yes- what a good point. I had not thought of that before either.
Remember though- even though the gb are imperfect, their thoughts are controled by holy spirit! So their thoughts are never distorted but every thought they have comes direct from Jehovah!
This is amazing. This new gb gets bolder and bolder. I can't believe I used to believe in all this crap.
WT is 100% a mind controling cult.

This means that, if they do something on purpose to ruin your life, you are still supposed to trust them. If one of them intentionally ruins your life and uses you to ruin someone else's life (say, setting someone up to molest children because the witless wants to ruin their lives and not be the one to get his hands dirty), you still have to stay in the cancer and let that dingbat do just that. If someone scams you, you still have to give that person endless chances to scam you again. If they welsh on promises on purpose, you are still supposed to trust them.
I believe that, unless you learn to think for yourself, you will never be better than those above you. You have a teacher that wants to make a dork out of you, you will become a dork. You get hounders that want your life to be blah, your life will be blah. You get a hounder-hounder that wants everyone to pio-sneer, you pio-sneer. A pio-sneer tells you to quit your work because of a made-up rumor about the company being owned by a church, you quit your work. Inevitably, the result is that you grow old and destitute, and with nothing to fall back on. Even Social Security is not going to do squat if you put very little into it.

FLIPPER,|
Ultimately, they have put themselves in the position of Jehovah and Jesus. Wow, what presumptuousness. What I want to know is: (rhetorical question) Just WHO the brother or brothers are that Jehovah and Jesus spoke to and gave them this authority? I really would like to know because I would love to shake their hands and get their autograph! When did this blessed event happen and HOW did it happen? An event this spectacular would have been remarked on in the newspapers! Brothers this 'special' should be carried around on a float like the Pope!
In all seriousness, if we are not to trust our OWN viewpoint, why then should we trust theirs?

[Reports of my assimilation were greatly exaggerated.]
This is a great thread. I thought that discussion about David and Bath-sheba had the single most idiotic explanation I have ever read about that issue. Frankly, by anyone's standards, I consider it the behavior of a psychopath to kill an infant in the place of a murderer, which is what happened in the case of David. The child died in his place. There is no possible justification for that. If God tells me that I shouldn't murder people, then he shouldn't put a hit out on kids himself. Everyone owns up to their own mistakes, and the kid didn't do anything but be born. A more plausible explanation for the kid's death would've gone like:
"Evidently, Jehovah must have had foreknowledge of some genetic deformity in the infant, perhaps caused by imperfection. Or perhaps some childhood disease--for which no vaccinations existed at that time--claimed the life of the newborn. Whatever the case, we can trust that Jehovah, being a God of justice, surely did not directly take the infant's life."
Anyway, I did have a moment of irritation with that article, and from the exact quotes Flipper mentioned. In short, don't start thinking your standards are higher than ours. If you do, it's the equivalent of putting us on trial. And clearly, we, being the resident God-placeholders, cannot be tried with evil things. In short, we are incapable of falsehood, deception, evil, or injustice. That being said, who are you to think otherwise? That thing inside your skull? Turn it off! We [read: you] don't use that here! Here's how it works: we are the law, and you obey the law.
Eh, don't worry. Someday, maybe in the next generational overlap, you'll get to be the law. And won't that be fun? Nah, we're just funnin' ya. Shut up and get back in line, dogs.

For sake of argument ... the faithful and discreet slave [and it's Governing Body] ... are anointed, yet according to this Watchtower article ...
*** w09 6/15 p. 23 par. 15 The Faithful Steward and Its Governing Body ***
Christians who have truly received this anointing do not demand special attention. They do not believe that their being of the anointed gives them special insights beyond what even some experienced members of the "great crowd" may have. (Rev. 7:9) They do not believe that they necessarily have more holy spirit than their companions of the "other sheep" have.... so the GB has no more access to holy spirit than the "great crowd", therefore, why trust their viewpoint?

We were taught to always "self-condemn" ourselves in anything that could have conflicted with the organization.
