Good thread, flipper. Another good catch...

    Serenity, you said:

I would love to do an experiment with worldly people- by not telling them my views about the mags or the org, just hand them a kool-aid edition to read and give their opinion.

Back when I was first coming to grips with realizing that I was in a cult, I pored over articles that I had over time remembered as troublesome. One in particular was the article about avoiding independant thinking in a WT. Interestingly there was an Awake article on being objective that came out either the same year or shortly thereafter. Comparing the articles showed inconsistencies in what was presented.

I was sharing some of my new knowledge with a workmate who was nice enough to let me vent about these new things I was learning. I showed him both these articles and asked him to give me his opinion. He was a pretty objective guy and didn't mind sharing his opinion, agreed with or not. His balance helped me as I dealt with the anger and bitterness.

He actually used the word cult in describing the WT article and he pegged the Awake article as PR piece meant more for outsiders. He saw through in minutes what took me a lifetime to realize. I think most people see through the WT shit pretty quick.

Been working for a couple days. Finally have time to respond.

LONG HAIR GAL- You make some very good, valid points which I firmly agree with and have always felt as well. The WT society does NOT want Jehovah's Witnesses getting too close to their family members because they WILL get unconditional love from family, but not at the kingdom hall. So the WT society tries to " replace " witnesses REAL family with a fake, conditional family at the kingdom hall. Why do you think they call each other " brothers " and " sisters " ? It's like Steve Hassan said in his Cult books - lots of cults DO this to cut people off from their REAL family influencing their decisions. Unfortunately it works very well in the witnesses.

CANTLEAVE- It's really the WT society that tells witnesses NOT to trust their own judgment. It's just that the WT society PRETENDS to be God. LOL ! They have a power and control complex which makes them legends in their own mind

UNDERCOVER- Thanks bud, glad you like the thread. I too have noticed the inconsistencies in the WT & Awake magazines- but not entirely until aFTER I exited the cult. That is an interesting experience with what you did with your fellow workmate - it shows us that he did NOT have the prefabricated cult mind control conditioning so he was able to see through the BS unlike those of us who were stuck in it for years ! Thankfully guys like you and me came around and escaped and achieved our freedom of mind ! Which I wouldn't trade for ANYTHING ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

    UNDERCOVER:

And to think, if you related this experience to one of your Elder's later on, he would have told you that your workmate was obviously influenced, and quite probably a tool of Satan The Devil!!! Why, it was Satan speaking through him and making your coworker speak out against Jehovah's visible Organization today, the WTBTS!!! It sure is a good thing that your bible-trained conscience forced you to come forward with this experience so that you could have your "attittude readjusted."

Look at what I wrote above, and tell me this isn't exactly how that scene would have played out. Now, tell me how you feel about such a scene, and about how entirely fucked up such a notion is now. Congratulations, you are free from a CULT. I am too.....what a relief!!!!

    - Wing Commander, of the born-in but not dumb-enough to be dunked because I heard 1914 came from a measurement in an Eyptian Pyramid when I was a little kid Conscience Class.

Seems like the WT BS society knows alot about distorted thinking...they've done a lot of that themselves. They're experts.

WING COMMANDER- Good points you make. Yes, if Undercover had taken that experience to the elders- they would have twisted it all around indicating Satan had a hold of the guy relating it. Definitely indicates elders use cult mind control to put fear and doubt into JW's and scare them into not leaving. Crazy stuff.

BROTHER DAN- Exactly. Good point. The WT society has so much distorted thinking their brains are mush at this point in time

How did I miss this? WOW. That is so amazingly twisted. I have to wonder how many people sitting at the KH hearing this are like little drones or are actually thinking this is BS?

TATIANA- Hope you can use some of the info in your efforts.

MAMALOVE- I think most of the people sitting in the kingdom halls ARE like drones, programmed robots listening to this information. Occasionally one might think about how twisted the info is- if they are being victimized unjustly by authority figures - but it takes something like that to get some to walk out
