The Issue is Not that God WANTS Us to Suffer...

This thread is an example of what happens when we start out with an unproven premise

Yes - that is the point precisely. GO thru the half dozen pages of this thread and see all the 'I accept the Lord', 'I follow the Lord', 'I trust the Lord' comments. That 'trust' is all based on a book, and the book was written men. The entire premise has gone unproven since it was written.

I wonder when people will stop believing just because those in their geographical area believe? If these same people had been born in India they would be 'believing' in that which they currently believe is Pagan. It is all about culture - it has nothing to do with God. We are a victim of our culture - unfortunately we were born in a time when man has not yet purged himself of these insane, unprovable, unrealistic, teachings.

Perhaps it will be better in a 100 years or so - seems as if the Internet is opening a lot of minds - thank you Internet. Unfortunately it cannot open all minds to logical, rational thought.

Tammy - Thanks for the welcome I was summoned to Greece by my gods to account for myself. Rhodes/Lindos was good and hot but I prefer southern England where I live.

AK - Jeff I was inspired to write my previous post by your robust denial of all that is unproven. I once had a creature called faith but pulled all its legs off in moment anguish. I have tried many times to stick them back on but they just fall off again. All I need is the right glue!

If you were in Infant school you would be pulling on Shelly's pigtails!

If you don't like what she says stop stalking her! This is her thread, it's not like you didn't know what would be written..........

I come on this thread supporting and defending you and you attack.

First AGuest, then you also, Watersprout. Read what I said. I fully get it, I gave up arguing against this. There's no arguing with you folks, so I did not.

Please don't even respond to me, neither of you, unless the Holy Ghost whispers in your ear what to say to me, because you folks on your own miss the point.

I think that, I wish that, things were NOT they way that they are.

I wish we had no suffering, truly and I wish that I could blame God for it, to blame God for nOT doing somethign about it and to be honest, a part of me still does, simply because I know that God CAN, even though I know why he doesn't.

I know many woudl liek God to fix everything, though I think it is more a "test want" then an actual want since all of Us are not able to conceive what they would entail - the total loss of free will or perhaps a JW-like cleansing, I wonder WHICH option woudl be acceptable for Us?

See if God was to fix it, God would/should fix it FORVER, right? no point in fixing this generation and then letting it go to thr dogs all over again, right?

So that would mean that either we LOSE free will and God rules liek a dictator or we lose the knowledge of Good and evil.

Now, I am all for the losing the knowledge of good and evil part, we all would agree with that right?

This thread is an example of what happens when we start out with an unproven premise and then build on it in a way that fits in with our personal beliefs.

Sort of like science, right, dear Glad? Peace to you... and to you, too, dear Six... and, well, okay, you too, dear OTWO, so long as you know I'm not actually responding to you!

I mean, for example, a man of "science" believes man can fly (albeit, perhaps with the help some kind of apparatus); unfortunately, however, he lives about 3,000 (if not double/triple that) years before "science" can prove him right. So, his fellow Ogs considered him a dreamer, one who makes things up, perhaps even daft. Another man of science believes the earth is round - his contemporaries, however, "know better," of course, because it is flat... as a pancake... just look at it: it LOOKS flat... so it must BE flat...

What about the man who believes that man can actually travel to the moon? Say what? The MOON?? Oh, c'mon, seriously. That ain't NEVER gonna happe... oh, oops... that has happened. But travel back and tell HIS contemporaries such a thing and what will they think of YOU? One ace shy of a full deck, perhaps? They would say to you that not only can a man NOT get to the moon but, heck Og, it's made of green cheese! Why would'ja wanna go there for?

Based on what you folks "believe"... or don't... every one of these... and anyone who believes as they do... in the "impossible"... should just go sit down somewhere and hush. Until SCIENCE says it's so. Because NOTHING... is TRUE... or REAL... or POSSIBLE... until "science" says it is. That science may be, say, a couple/few millenia behind... if not a couple few tens of thousands of years... if not a myriad of [light] years... is totally irrelevant. It ain't true, I tell ya... until SCIENCE says it's true.

Sigh. I'm telling ya'll... ya'll REALLY need to let that WTBTS mind-limiting bunk way of thinking GO! And that IS what your "belief" (or lack thereof) totally smacks of: "we determine what's true by our experiments and if we don't say it's true... it ain't. Well, ummm, until someone comes along and proves that it is. But until that happens... it ain't!" Seriously...

It is you who are "limited" in your thinking... in your perception... and not we. Because of having been set FREE... from the limitations of the mind belonging to the FLESH... which limitations are dictated by the limitations of the FLESH itself... we know better. The spirit does not HAVE to be bound... by the flesh. It CAN transcend.

But because you have been misled by the LIES of those who say they know of such things... and, yet, don't have a single clue... you have now SHUT your minds. Yet, you say you want me to "open" up MY mind. Well, I say to you... re-open YOURS. LOOK! SEE! HEAR!... what you CANNOT with your limited (in all ways) vessel of dust.

Otherwise, you are doing YOURSELF and those who listen toYOU a great disfavor. Not we.

FREE YOUR MIND... well, okay, your heart, first... but the rest will follow!

    I bid you peace, truly.

A slave of Christ, who is alive... TRULY...

Yea - but guess what? Science is NEVER going to support 'faith', and 'gee wiz there must be somethin' out there pa' bigger 'n us', and 'just believe on that there Bible, son, it tells you about God... how do I know it's raht? Well, cause it says it is - that's how ah know?'

    Christ.

Jeff - having faith in Christ and believing everything in the bible aren't the same thing. Also, how can you say that science is NEVER going to support faith? You can't KNOW something like that - unless you can see into the future as far as it goes and see that it never happens. I think you're proving Shelby's point in the above post.
